My brother and mother have alread sailed on the Magic and have their travel mugs. Will they need to re-purchase these, or can they use the one's from last fall on our family trip this June?

Oh now, I'm going to run for cover!!! This topic tends to get very controversial, so don't be frightened by some of the responses.
Personally, I don't have an opinion because we are not soda drinkers and do not get the mugs. If we got some and reused them with as many Disney cruises as we do, DCL would go broke. :teeth:

The official answer from DCL is that the mugs are sold for the length of ONE cruise only. :)

Just got off the Magic!
Pick up a 12 pack of coke at publix in Cocoa beach and drink all the softdrinks free with your meals... ( only exception is Topsiders buffet morning and lunch and the food stands.. Pizza/ hotdogs and scoops...
Folks look stupid caring around a cheesey bulky mug... And they pay 35 bucks for it to boot! During the day you can drink all the punch and lemonade your heart desires... Add some carribean rum and look out!
Seriously... Disney needs to stamp or punch the key to the world instead of forcing people to lug aroud those bulky mugs on a rope...
Personally I think they stick with the mug to deter people from getting their money's worth.... I am sure there is an angle here... but cant put my finger on it,

My suggestion is skip the mug... the inroom refridg/cooler keeps a 12 pack perfectly cold

We love our mugs. Did not find it a problem to take them with us around the ship.
I do not want to add to the litter situation. Paper or plastic cups blow away easily and some end up in the water.
My mug is now my daily coffee or water mug at home and in the car. A great reminder of my MAGICal cruise. A useful souvenir.

BTW
They put your coke in a paper cup and give it to you to put the soda in your mug yourself. I guess as a precaution with the Norwalk hype.... So buying the mug is not really sparing the tree's much. At the drink station on Deck 9 they uses paper cups entirely. But if you like the mug on a rope and it suits you.... Then 35$ for the ball and chain is well worth it! :p

I prefer to not wash a single dish (mug) while I am on vacation... but to each his own...

Ive got an Idea.... How bout if Disney punches the Key to the world card and on the last day of the cruise they distribute the mugs!! via the cabin steward. That might make it worth it.... I know last week Most people my husband and I ran into on the elevators carrying the mugs were complaining about them~ We have had numerous discussions about this topic!
