I've never done a cruise before, let alone run a quote. I was looking at the Cruise and Stay option on the WDW website and wondered whether it's better to book a cruise separately and just book the resort package as usual.
We have priced this up in the past and it worked out better for us to book separately.
We found the overall cost to be good if you were going to be booking rack rate at your chosen resort and booking directly through DCL for your cruise.
Personally however we like to book our cruises through an agent like dreams unlimited to take advantage of their on board credit. They have also had some special rates in the past.
We are going on a 3 night cruise in 3 weeks (Disney Dream), we booked directly with DCL, we only booked the the pre cruse stay(2 nights) and the transfers, We return to Orlando after the cruise and booked this portion of the holiday separately, as it worked out better value.
I ldn't book a cruise and stay (used to be land and sea) package - you are essentially paying over the odds for the convenience of booking it all together. We have done several cruise/stay trips and always book separately.
