Disney Cruise Passporter

Anybody recommend me purchasing this since I know nothing about the Disney Cruises or will I be just fine reading from the cruise board posts?

I have done a Disney Cruise once before in 04/2003. Booked my second cruise for 12/2006. Just purchased the book and can't wait to get it. After reading all the posts on here ~ and the number of return cruisers that purchase that book ~ I thought that it would benefit me!


I also found that reading these boards gave me tons of new idea's!

The first cruise we arrived for a land & sea ~ we took the bus from AK to the Port and got stuck in a nasty traffic jam ~ so after reading this board ~ I requested a day prior flight and hotel.



AND by the way - CONGRATS on the upcoming new arrival!!!!

The PassPorter is a great book! I just got the 3rd edition the other day. Another great resource (and one that is free) is the Magical Disney Cruise Guide. Click here to go to the pdf you can save to your computer and read at your own pace. Lots of great info.

See, I'm torn if I should buy the 3rd edition now or wait till early next year for the 4th edition since our big group isn't cruising until 07/06...

Thoughts?

My sister bought me the passporter that has the binder - so I can put pages in - like a refill - so next year I will get the refill pages

I have the Disney Passporter binder and I love it. I'm able to keep everything in one place and take it with me where ever I go. I didn't think that planning was needed for a Cruise. I don't know what's in that particular book, but since a few of you like it I think I'll just go ahead and order the refill pages. Thank you!

I just got my Cruise Passporter and I love it! I'm a WDW vet, but I have never cruised, so the book provided me with wonderful information. Much of the same info. is availabale here on the boards, but the book presents it in a more reader friendly format, plus you don't have to go searching through pages and pages of information to find what you are looking for. It was money well spent in my book!

I'm wondering the same thing. Also, if I would benefit from buying the binder type so I can add/delete pages easily

I flipped through one the other day, and I have to say that I guess I'm just going to be a big ol' cheapo.

First time I went to WDW I purchased the Parks Passporter, and it WAS wonderful...but between my buying it and our trip, I had plenty of time to burn up fan websites, boards, etc. I found that all the great info that I paid to have in a guidebook, was available for free online for me to print out. I could get all this information myself...and I love doing research anyway, so it was fun for me. By the time our trip arrived, I really only referenced the book for the map.

I'm amazed, now, at the wealth of online information on DCL! Any question I've had on it, I have been able to find almost immediately or after a short search. So, I've started creating my own binder to take with us rather then buy one. I have tabs, and even some pockets in there. Another website (don't know if you allow references, so won't go there) has a lovely DCL .pdf info file that I printed out...and since it was on my own printer, I could just print those pages I knew I'd need. I can print out menus, ship map, answers to my questions on here, etc. My reservations/confirmations have been printed out and put into my binder. I will probably thoroughly embarrass DH when he sees that I've made some cutesy little binder cover for it as well. I guess I just like being able to personalize it, cull info I don't need, etc. (oh yeah, and it's free )

I know many people don't want to go to this kind of effort though...I'm one of those weirdos that get a kick out of planning

We found it helpful on our first cruise since you can't always be online besides it will give you something to read during your prenatal appts.

I am a long time DISer and cruise veteran, although our first DCL cruise is the August repo. I highly recommend the Passporter. I bought the 1st edition when we anticipated booking, bought the 2nd edition last year for some friends who are going with us in August, and just received the 3rd edition.The 3rd edition has tons of info on the west coast and Panama Canal cruises. The amount of detail in the book is far beyond both the DCL website and Birnbaum's Official Disney Cruise Line Book. I bought the deluxe edition as I love the daily planner and pockets in the back. We are DVC owners and so visit WDW a couple of times a year and I still purchase the WDW Passporter yearly for the organizer and it makes for a great mini scrapbook while you are gone. The authors have taken many cruises and rate all the staterooms, meals and excursions. There are also tons of phone numbers, websites and other references that are invaluable for the anal planner in me. They breakdown the staterooms category by category and also throw in info like the hidden port hole cabins, those close to the laundry rooms, those with larger verandahs and other information that I have not found anywhere else. I do get lots of information from these boards and other websites but I am completely sold on their guidebooks.

i just received my 3rd edition dcl passporter. luv it, luv it, luv it!!!!! i have the one w/the binder and carry it w/me everywhere. this will be our 1st disney cruise and i already know where to find everything! it is well worth the money and after you purchase the 1st one you will get a discount on your next purchse. between the passporter and disboards.com i am ready to set sail! we're sailing 9/17.......

Hi there. Cruisin with you and I think I will wait to order until I can get the 4th edition. I have the second edition deluxe in the binder and have read it (some sections 2 and 3 times)

But, since we are not cruising until the same time you are, I am holding off so I can get the most up-to-date stuff. Just my 2 cents worth!

I'm going to hold off as well. Is there a release date yet? I went to my local book store to at least sit and read the current one that's out but they were sold out. I'm so anxious to get started reading.

I've been looking for a copy *everywhere* and have yet to find one. I went to the largest library in my area, and they only had one copy (and of course it was checked out). Since my family hasn't made a decision yet, I just wanted to look through one without purchasing it. I looked through all my local Barnes & Noble but they don't seem to sell it. Which bookstore chains did y'all get yours from?
