I have been on hold since 8 am this morning. I am currently going on 5 hrs of being on hold. After 4 hrs and 8 mins, the line went silent. This is so frustrating and I am seriously considering canceling my placeholder and going somewhere else. This is so ridiculous!
 
It's been like this ever since the restart last summer and it's even worse right now because of the new itineraries. Your best best is to call right at 8am, to refresh the DCL page until the chat works, or to wait until the current surge dies down and then call and give them your Castaway number and select "new reservation" on the system. You could also try calling on more than one line. Sometimes, the second line will get through before the first one. I think their system is timing you out and not telling you, so you think that you're still on hold, but they'll never pick up.
 
Is this even though you press 3 (?) for new reservations? I was also on hold for hours every day without success, and then tried to select something else - got through after only 10 minutes. The cast members are happy to help you from my experience.
 
I have to use my placeholder through Costco Travel and they don't open until 10:00 am ET. I've been on hold for 4 hrs and counting.
 

Send an email saying what you're trying to do. They'll respond and tell you that what you're trying to do cannot be done online. Then you'll be directed to call back using the Web/Technical Support line. That one tends to not have a wait.

I got through yesterday morning at 8 after about 15 min by selecting a new reservation.

I've heard if you select "New reservation" you'll get someone much faster
 
Are travel agents on hold this long too? I booked through Costco and need to add DCL transfers for our upcoming cruise in June and I dont' want to wait on hold all day.

Depends. Travel agents can do some things online that we can't do. But for new reservations with placeholders and stuff, they also have to wait in long lines. My TA tells me that they have a different number to call, but it still seems to take a very long time to get through.
