Guests booked on Alaska and Hawaii itineraries between April 26th and September 19th on the Disney Wonder will be receiving communication from Disney Cruise Line today detailing current health and safety protocols, including additional requirements for cruise passengers visiting Canada.
Guests booked on the Disney Wonder from April 26th through September 19th may modify their sail date or cancel their sailing without any Disney-imposed cancellation fees by March 30, 2022.

COVID-19 VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Currently, Disney Cruise Line continues to require all vaccine-eligible guests (based on U.S. eligibility requirements) to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the time of sailing, as defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This is a requirement for all guests (U.S. and international) ages 5 and older.

In consideration of guidance from the CDC and the World Health Organization, Disney Cruise Line accepts the following vaccine types: Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Covishield, Novavax, Sinopharm, and Sinovac.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) defines fully vaccinated as 14 days after receiving:
  • a single-dose of an accepted 1-dose vaccine
  • the second dose of an accepted 2-dose vaccine
  • the full series of an active (not placebo) COVID-19 vaccine in the U.S.-based AstraZeneca or Novavax COVID-19 vaccine trials
  • the second dose of any “mix-and-match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines (administered at least 17 days apart)
PRE-TRIP COVID-19 TESTING

Guests who are not vaccine-eligible, because of age, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result (paid for by the guest) taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date. Guests 4 years of age and under must complete these testing requirements.

The test should be a NAAT test, rapid PCR test, or lab-based PCR test. Rapid antigen tests are not accepted. Disney Cruise Line has secured a special rate of $98.33 per PCR test (which includes a 3.5% processing fee) through our third-party vendor, Inspire Diagnostics. Guests may also obtain their test from any independent testing supplier.

SAFE PASSAGE WEBSITE, BY INSPIRE DIAGNOSTICS:

In order to sail, all guests (adults and children, regardless of age) must upload their proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test results on the Safe Passage website by Inspire Diagnostics. A parent or legal guardian will need to use their own account to provide this information on behalf of minors. To learn more about how to provide proof of your negative COVID-19 test result, please visit the Before Leaving Home section of Disney Cruise Line’s Know Before You Go information.

After appropriate documents have been uploaded and reviewed by Inspire, guests should see the words “Clear to Arrive” in the Pre-Sail Screening section when they log into their Safe Passage account before arriving at the port.

It is also recommended that guests bring a copy of their proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 PCR test result with them to the port. If you have any questions about your Safe Passage registration or status, please contact Inspire Diagnostics at 877-250-5132.

EMBARKATION COVID-19 TESTING:

In consideration of guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all guests (regardless of age and vaccination status) are required to take a COVID-19 test (paid for by Disney Cruise Line and administered by Inspire Diagnostics) at the terminal before boarding. Guests with positive COVID-19 test results—as well as those sharing the same stateroom and their close contacts—will be denied boarding.

FACE COVERINGS

Face coverings are not required for guests outdoors while onboard the ship. Face coverings will be optional in most indoor locations throughout the ship. Guests under 5 years of age who are currently ineligible to be vaccinated will be required to wear face coverings in Youth Activity spaces and in the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique; and, while not required, we continue to strongly recommend these guests wear a face covering in all other indoor locations. Face coverings are required on motorcoach transportation and in the cruise terminal and may be required in ports of call based on local government requirements.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CRUISE PAGGENGERS VISITING CANADA / DEBARKATION TESTING

Guests should review and stay up to date with any requirements or restrictions that may be in place for travel to Canada; visit the Government of Canada’s website for information.

Please note, the Canadian government requires all passengers to take a COVID-19 test before disembarking a cruise ship in Canada. Canadian authorities are also currently requiring international travelers to download and register via the ArriveCAN mobile application, Canada’s entry requirements program that must be completed prior to entry into Canada. Requirements include downloading the ArriveCAN app, uploading proof of COVID-19 vaccination, citizenship documentation, trip details, and answering health-related questions.

Is it correct to assume these tests at port cover the whole need a negative test to enter the U.S. immigration requirement?? Also anyword if DCL will switch to antigen test like the other cruise lines??

They still spell out quite clearly that testing for unvaccinated children must be PCR and not antigen testing

I would think that it would, as long as you get proper documentation from DCL. However, if you are staying on in Vancouver, as we are, you would need another test before flying into the US, as it stands now. I would not be surprised to see that requirement drop soon, though.

Canada is dropping prearrival testing for fully vaccinated visitors and residents on April 1st. The official announcement with all the details is coming tomorrow (Thursday). How this will affect cruising out of Canada (if it even will) remains to be seen but hopefully we get more answers tomorrow!

Did anyone else notice that they have changed the dates to be able to change/alter your cruise from 60 days (depending on when your cruise sails) to March 30, 2022 :
Guests booked on the Disney Wonder April 26, 2022 through September 19, 2022 may modify their sail date or cancel their sailing without any Disney-imposed cancellation fees by contacting our reservations team at 1-866-325-6685 or 407-566-7797 by March 30, 2022. Please note that change fees and cancellation fees imposed by third-party suppliers, such as airlines and hotels, as well as travel insurance, are not refundable. Refunds will be processed back to the original form of payment. Standard cancellation policies and terms and conditions apply for any cancellation or modification requests received on or after March 31, 2022.

I'm going to assume that the 30 days was due to not knowing what Canada was going to require and since those are now known, they are giving people a few more weeks to decide if they want to jump through the hoops and take the cruise before going back to the old change/alter your cruise timing schedule.

Yes, and I'm wondering if that's a mistake? My Aug 2022 cruise has 60 days to cancel/reschedule but now suddenly I only have till March 30th? I think they meant for that March 30th deadline to apply to people sailing in April/early May, i.e,. people for whom the 60 day deadline has already passed... Hopefully they will clarify soon.

I was wondering the same thing and If someone calls and gets through to DCL can they please clarify this?

This was announced today:
"Transport Minister Omar Alghabra said that for cruise passengers when the season starts in early April, they will still be required to take an antigen test no more than one day before their scheduled departure, but no longer will need to be tested before getting off the ship. All other requirements for cruises remain in place. "

I sent an email today. Will post if I get a reply...

UPDATE: Heard back from DCL. See below.

My original sent 3/16/22
Hello. My family has adjoining rooms booked under Reservation #{number} and Reservation #{number}. Can you please clarify the deadline to cancel/change our reservations without penalty? Last I heard, it was 60 days before sailing but the email sent today says the new deadline is March 30th. Thank you, {my name}

DCL's reply received 3/21/22:
Dear {Name},

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

Your final payment due date has not changed, it remains sixty days prior to sailing.

The email you received is allowing Guests that are within their final payment due date already an opportunity to cancel or change their sailing without any Disney imposed fees due to the recently announced protocols for sailings out of Vancouver through March 30th, 2022.

As you did book with {travel agent}l, any questions of a financial nature, such as the cancelation policy and time frames would need to be handled by {travel agent} directly.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further assistance with any other inquiries, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Have a Magical Day!

I sent an email on Friday asking about my families June 27th Alaska Cruise and the new March 30th deadline and I still haven't heard from Disney. So if I am reading SeaMama's email correctly I should still have 60 days from the sail date to either cancel or move it to another day without penalty?

Yes if you are not concierge, and do not otherwise have a restriction that makes a portion if your cruise nonrefundable (e.g. GT rate, or a situation where you moved the cruise once before after it was in the penalty phase such that the original cruise penalty still applies). For people who have those kinds of restrictions, they can cancel between now and March 31 with no penalty. For a “regular” nonconcierge room with no cancellations penalties attached before 60 days, you can still cancel or change before 60 days with no penalty.

Does anyone think that based on this that it is safe to assume that the European itineraries on the Magic will also still require a test on the day of embarkation?
