I just booked my 3 night cruise using my incentive. I know my guide said it would be Cat 8 or better, but when I booked DLC said it's Cat 9. I know this isn't a huge difference in room type, but did anyone else have this happen or were you in Cat 8?

Thanks.

That's the first I heard about a Cat 8. We have a voucher and was told it would be a Cat 9 and ugrades are available for $100 per person.

Cat 8 is only different by the location on the ship. The Cat 9's are located on Deck 1 and 2.
The back of my voucher reads "offer includes 1 Deluxe oceanview Stateroom for up to four......"
DOV's start at Cat 9.

Your guide may have misspoke.

I agree, you received poor info from your guide. We made our reservation back in March and would've been cat 9 except we upgraded to cat 6.

Mind if I ask how much the upgrade was?

We will be a family of 5, (DS will be under 2) so we will need an upgrade or a second cabin!

We only had 2 adults and 2 kids (9 & 2) so our upgrade for the 4 night cruise was $400 ($100 per person, yep even on the 2 yr old)

I believe it's more to upgrage to a cat 4 and will depend on the date of your cruise. Some over the holidays were pretty steep.

It does appear that your Guide did not give you accurate information. I believe that the cruise voucher only guarantees an Ocean View cabin, not a specific category. This is what it says in the literature that we received:

Offer includes one (1) Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom for up to four (4) people for a 3-night Disney Cruise Line® cruise on one (1) select sailing date beginning September 2, 2010, through December 16, 2010.

I spoke to a guide today who told me it would be $890 to add a third child to the cruise - he really seemed to be talking me out of the cruise , but the discount without the cruise was only $6 more per point -$600 on 100 points seems like the cruise would be worth more than that !

That sounds about right because with 5 people the lowest cat is a 4 Family suite.
