looks like they have disney cruise leaving from NY now. The weekend cruise looks nice. Anyone thinking about doing that 2 day cruise?

It's tempting since we are only about 90 minutes away, but I just can't justify the $$/points for DCL anymore. Have done it 3 times and it was tremendous, but it's just too expensive. So many other options at a lot less $$$.

yea.. priced at about $1700 for 2 adults 1 child and 1 infant. kinda a steep.

Just too high for a cruise to nowhere. I priced it out and was shocked since it really isn't even 2 whole days.

Shocked isn't even the word. I was befuddled. $2000 for a family of 4 for an inside cabin, close to $3000 for us to have a balcony.

And a cruise to nowhere, into the Atlantic which can be a bit rough in June anyway, for about 36 hours.

Was so excited when I heard about it but, way too expensive for my family of it would cost us $3000 for a cruise to no where. That is just crazy. We could go to Disney for a week for that. I was very disappointed how expensive it was.

Our upcoming 9 day trip is costing us (family of 4) $900 for airfare, $1200 for 4 7 day park hoppers, and $200 for groceries. That's $2300. We will probably spend another $1000, give or take, meaning for about $3300 we will get 9 days at WDW....hard to justify spending nearly that much on 36 hours of....nothing?

Oh well, somebody will spend the money---I guess.

DH and I considered the 2 day cruise for just the 2 of us and ended up booking a 6 day Canadian cruise for the 6 of us for $5400 - 2 inside cabins. The 2 day is too expensive, even by NYC standards. You could do a LOT in NYC over a weekend for the same $$$.

We saw that but as others have said seems a little pricey. IF they drop the price we will def consider it.

We are taking the 5 nigh Canada cruise from NY next September. That is actually priced pretty well. Two adults in a Cat 10A is 1800.

We are a family of 5. I swear Disney has it in for families of more than 4. LOL!!!
The Bahamas cruise from NYC would cost us $9k.(the 3day $3k) Totally crazy. I would love to know how many bookings they have. I'm thinking not many...Hoping for some crazy discounts.

:thumbsup2, I looked at the DCL pricing(5 day) and for about the same money I can get a 7 day NE/Canada cruise on Princess.

For us, the draw is Disney. We did the Magic in 2006, and the kids couldn't wait to go back. I know Princess is very nice (best friend and her husband love that line), but we don't gamble and we know the kids clubs on Disney are second to none.

For us it's itinerary, itinerary, itinerary! Princess is our favorite.

It's why we didn't book DCL to Alaska, no Glacier Bay? We've been to Alaska twice and that is a must for us.

My boys are older and given the choice would rather "see and do things" than spend a few days at sea hanging in a teen/kids club.

I guess that's why there are other options, things would be boring if we all like the samething. :)

I love DCL, and live in NY...I'm in the same position as many of you though...these cruises were priced out of my price range. Maybe next year...

I booked the 2 night cruise to nowhere! Hubby said we couldn't go to Disney next year, so it is an Anniversary surprise! And yes, I booked with points!! It was a spontaneous decision on my part, and maybe not a wise use of points, but it's already booked. Also, I didn't realize that if I wanted to cancel the cruise and use those points, they could be only used at the Disney collection of resorts, and not the DVC resorts. Oh well, live and learn! As a newbie, I'm bound to make mistakes, and I did have second thoughts after. Oh well, I guess we can just enjoy the cruise. I feel an add-on coming in my near future LOL!!

We could be at pier in under 45 minutes ( unless our mayor continues adding more bike lanes :rotfl2: to our already difficult to navigate streets ) and it is just so tempting but we're not liking the prices and definitely won't be using points either. There are other options to pick from out of NYC that are quality experiences too and considerably easier on the wallet.

I'm curious to see if most sailings will reach capacity and if they aren't maybe last minute deals may be offered.

:)

I was so disappointed when I priced it. I thought it would be a great way to get my cruise-hesitant DH to give it a try, but it's just too much money for two days.

I love dcl and was soo excited for ny cruises. I didn't even care if they were more money because I figured I wasn't paying for airfare etc. But the prices turned out to be so high that I just couldn't book - either on points or cash. I priced both. I've done 2 cruises out of the NYC area and these prices are really high. I was so disappointed - I just can't justify the cost. It's cheaper to fly to Florida and cruise.
