Disney Cruise Free Wi-fi Instructions (iPhone edition)

I have used these instructions for past sailings. Does anyone have anything they could add or that should be changed? Is there still a Connect@Sea desk?

Do these things to iPhone to not incur Wi-Fi charges:

1. Put in Airplane mode
2. Turn off Location Services
3. Settings > General > Background App Refresh > Turn Off
4. Low Power Mode?
5. Turn off Auto Updates: Settings > App Updates > Toggle off
6. Settings > Photos - Toggle off iCloud photos & Auto-Play
7. Once connected to DCL: Settings > Wifi > Ask to Join Networks > Off
8. Close every app

Now you can sign up for the free 50mb Wifi. Login in. Do not open any apps. Watch the meter for usage. If anything is getting used, there is a data leak. Log out immediately. Go to Connect @ Sea desk for their assistance.

No one ever at the connect at sea desk when we walked by. We just put our phones in airplane mode and turned on WiFi. We did not get the free WiFi offered on the first day. On the 8/20 and 8/23 sailings.

Low Power Mode would do the same as numbers 3, 5 and 6 plus reduce a couple of other background processes. It's designed to reduce battery usage more than anything else.

Perfect! In Dec ‘19 I went through the 50 mb in just over an hour because all I did was switch to airplane mode (I think). Turned out my iCloud photos were the culprit.

Before you put it in Airplane mode:

Turn off cellular data roaming.

Turn off cellular data.

That way if you (accidentally or otherwise) take it out of airplane mode it won't be able to use cellular data.
