Disney Cruise Brides!!! Part Deux!!

Hi Melissa,

Thanks so much for your quick response!! I will definitely look her up. Do you remember ball park what you paid for her photo package in addition to her cruise fare?

Your welcome :)

Since I was her first bride I only paid the cruise fare, I know now that she charges a small fee ( I want to say around 500) but still one of the best deals out there plus you don't just get the wedding day you get an hour at each port and an hour or hour an half on Castway Cay plus an hour at WDW so really a good deal so if you are doing a dream cruise it should be a lot cheaper than say a fantasy cruise because its only 3-4 days mine is a 7 day cruise so a lot more if you look on my PJ I did a whole post on choosing my photographer that was the hardest decision to me because pictures are all you have left from that day! Hope that helps you out and have you started a PJ at all?? Would love to follow along there are not a done of cruise ones!

Melissa

Sounds like you got a great deal!! I will definitely contact your photographer. I had another quick question. I see that you can book hair appointments but don't see anything for makeup. Is that not an option?? Im freaking out because that's a huge deal for a bride.

Oh good let her know Melissa sent you! :goodvibes and yes on your planning guide you mark that you want hair and you have to make a makeup appointment on the boat, it something the stylist do but isn't listed because you have to provide the makeup what I am doing and have heard other brides do is after my meet and greet I am going to the salon to confirm my bridal hair appointment and talk to someone about makeup that way whoever is the best hopefully I can request them specifically on my wedding day and talk a little more about style and what not. So if you want your makeup done I would recommend going to MAC or Sephora have your makeup done professional and buy whatever you need and than take that with you so the makeup stylist have it but I have never read no was able to get their makeup done!

Have you started working on favors yet?

Melissa

Awesome! Thank you!!! No I havent I was thinking about gift bags but not sure what to put inside. I really can't spend too much but would love to give my guests a nice detail.
Yes! I want the wedding to be here but at the same time I'm terrified because I'm not ready. We skipped our yearly cruise too. For the last 2 years we have taken a cruise in June or July. But I guess we will make up for it since we are taking 2 almost back to back. I made a post about my favors this morning. I will paste it down below. What are you doing for favors?

Favor Bags:

So I still haven't completely decided on everything in my favor bags, but I wanted to share my progress so far. So, I went through so many different ideas when deciding on favors. I am not particularly crafty and I am OCD enough that I did not want to have everything be handmade because it would bother me if they did not look the same.

SO the one thing that I am making by hand are the favor tags. I wanted to really represent that this is a Disney wedding, without it looking really cartoonie or childlike. For the tags I just used cardstock in black and red, ribbon, a hole punch, scissors, glue, a silver sharpie (although I am thinking of using a gold one instead, what do you think?) and a mickey head outline that I found online. I cut the whole head outline out of black cardstock and then cut out half circle shapes from the red and glued them together. I originally got white card stock and used a hole punch to get small white circles to use as Mickey's "buttons". This is how you see it pictured. My new idea is to buy actual small white buttons to glue on instead. I also have not written any other names on the tags other than this sample one, as I am still not sure of who is coming. I used that hole punch to punch a whole in the ear so I can tie it on the handle of the bag. I found this cute nautical ribbon on sale at Michaels. I don't have enough to do all of he bags, but I think it will be cute to have 3 or 4 different ribbon styles.

And that is my ring on my finger in the picture. Matt is always getting annoyed at me when it is flipped the wrong way, but sometimes it just has a mind of its own. Plus then it looks like a wedding band and I get to pretend that I'm already married, for awhile!

Next is the bag! This is the part that I am most excited about. I found these bags on etsy and fell in love. I originally wanted the bags to say Boucher Wedding 2014. I decided to go with Bon Voyage instead because I thought the bags were more likely to get re-used by my guests this way. I cannot say enough about these bags! They came out beautifully! I got ones with bows for the ladies and ones without for the guys. Jennifer, the wonderful lady who made the bags, also threw in a special surprise "Just Married" bag for me! I almost started crying when I saw it and I can't wait to use it on the cruise!

Those are all of the items that I have already purchased. I will be getting these personalized sunscreens. I love that they come on a carabiner so I can hook them onto the outside of the bags. I am planning on having them say something like "Matt and Kat's Disney Dream Wedding".

I am still throwing around ideas for one more item inside the bag. I have thought about little bags or maybe jars of candy. I also think a little cruise emergency bag would be fun. It would include individual packs of tums, shout stain wipes, sea-sickness medication, ect. I am looking for something reasonably inexpensive since I have spent quite a bit of money on the bags and the towels and I may have to get more, depending on the guest count. I will update when I decide. Any ideas are welcome!

I was in the same boat I wanted to do really good favors but on the cheap side a lot of my favors I was able to under a dollar and some 2-3, i went overboard I made lanyards, tumblers, pixie dust, honey and tea, magnets and I am making soaps and bath salts. If you like DIY projects I recommend lanyards and tumblers they are very useful on the cruise and pretty easy and cheap to make :)

Those sound like great ideas!! I was thinking of some sort of beach tote with goodies inside. I saw another bride buy a tote with the cruise ship logo sowed on and personalized. Stunning but $50 each!!

The beach bags are really expensive if you are crafty enough you can buy the iron on cruise ships at either hobby lobby or michaels and cheaptotes.com sells canvas bags for .89 each and you can really make them look cute! I really recommend that sire I used them for our bags and they came our really good

I want to share a misconception I had in case it helps someone else with planning. I opted for a Castaway Cay ceremony and requested the latest possible wedding. I was just informed that this is 10:30 in the morning! We're coming from the west coast and dancing all night so it will be unpleasant for us and for our guests. They did give us the option of moving the ceremony on board. Hmmm...

So sorry to hear that the latest you could get is 10:30! I have heard Castaway Weddings are always really early and not he best flowing for a wedding, I would say you should go with an onboard wedding the time is much better and is usually 4:00pm-5:00pm, especially if you want to have a more typical dance wedding we plan on the cermony around that time then at 6:00pm all the guest will go to the show we will take pictures, then dinner at 8 and meeting up in the club after! Good luck in your choosing and your so close now!

Hi Melissa! We would totally go onboard if it wasn't going to interfere with scuba. We should have booked a longer cruise like you did. Sleep is overrated. I'll just have to photoshop my eyes open in the pictures.

Oh thats too bad! Scuba sounds like lots of fun are you doing it in Castaway Cay?? and that is a big reason why we did a seven day cruise I wanted to make sure we had time to do lots? But are you and your DF taking a second honeymoon cruise?

We have 6 or more people diving in Nassau, so getting married on Castaway day was the only option for this bunch.

On another note, should we see take our guests to see the Golden Mickey's show on the first night or throw them a cocktail party? If we go to the show we'll grab drinks before dinner. I am wondering if the show is too kiddy for a mostly adult group.

Oh wow what a big group to take scuba diving sounds like lots of fun!!! and I like the Golden Mickey Show I love the option to see the shows it depends on your guest really in my wedding these are alot of peoples first cruise so they don't want to miss anything but if they don't mind I say cocktail hour since you won't have a typical night wedding!!

Another word of advice: instruct your guests in the most tactful way possible that prices go up and cruises sell out. My cruise is 6 weeks away (April 10th). Last week there were plenty of rooms and today being a holiday, I happened to go online and check availability and there were only 4 rooms left!!! After much pleading, Disney allowed me to hold the rooms for 24 hours. I had to pick which of the unbooked RSVP's I would offer rooms to. I texted everyone their reservation numbers and urged them to book right away. And, FYI, 6 weeks out, the last few rooms were $2033 for two people. After these reservations expire, I will call the other unbooked guests and let them know the cruise is almost sold out.

I almost wish there was an FAQ sticky since these get so long (sorry, I don't have time to sort through 67 pages of replies!!)!

Questions for previous DCL brides as I start looking into my FTW options:
1: How much is photography if you want to add it on?
2: What's the average cost of hair and makeup? Do you have to go to the spa, or can you have it done in your room?
3: Do you get annual passes with a DCL wedding?
4: Can you still get a theme park photo shoot?
5: Can you do a dessert party before the cruise or when you return?
6: Who do we need to get the wedding license from - Florida or the Bahamas?

Thanks, everyone!

1- Photography starts at $349 (which includes a handful of prints and the photographer) and goes up from there. The CD of images on top of any package is $399.95
2. You can check out the spa offerings and the pricing is in there. I have not asked but am assuming they would not come to your room.
3. You dont. I am not sure this still happens with WDW weddings, but I could be wrong.
4. Thats separate and extra so you sure could. It would be arranged separately.
5. Again I am sure you can arrange this as well, it will just cost extra.
6. The wedding folks will give you all the info you need on this. It depends on where you get married, castaway or on board. They are good about helping here.

Congrats on thinking about a DCL wedding! They really are amazing as far as photographer I am brining my own I worked it out that it was the cost of the cruise and I get 6 hours day of wedding an hour each port and Castaway pictures as well so really a great deal! For hair and makeup I am using Senses Spa and to my knowledge you can only do it in the spa and for hair they quoted me 85-120 depending on how long hair, style, etc for makeup you have to bring all your own makeup and they charge you there so not sure on price yet? No annual pass included which stinks but you can to Magical Kingdom photos because we are still Disney Brides you are still subject to times and dates but we can book out I believe 180 days prior I was going to do it but it 2000 and I decided to skip it! and for the wedding license they give you all the information in your packed but you do need one from Florida though!

Hope that helps :goodvibes

Hi everyone

Just wanted to drop by a say that we were married on castaway cay on the January 3 Disney fantasy sailing. If anyone has any questions or needs some insider info...would be happy to help.

We know allot about the process as we spent almost 4 years going back and form with disney fairytale weddings. We went from doing an Aulani wedding to the castaway cay wedding. We were even involved in helping disney redesign their wedding department and website. Sadly still don't see any of these changes being implemented yet
