OK, so I just called DFTW, just to see if anyone would answer and Shanda answered the phone. I have not emailed her or called her since I booked the wedding. I told her my name and that I was getting married in November and she knew my date and who I was immediately. That impressed me a little. :yay: I asked her 2 questions...

1. I have 55 people sailing with me and wanted to be sure I had special permission from Disney for a Castaway Cay wedding over 48. She said it would be fine and she appreciated me letting her know before. They will make sure the accommodations on the ship for cake will be big enough so it may not be in the Outlook Lounge. I really dont care where it is as long as we all fit.

2. I also asked about seating for dinner and they are working on new plans for the Dream. The dining rooms are all set up different so what worked for the Magic and Wonder are not the same for the Dream. I really just want us all on the same rotation and dont really care where we sit since I will know everyone and they pretty much know everyone as well.

8 months from yesterday and I set sail!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I so agree, I want my party on the same rotation of not table too! I will be working in that when it gets a bit closer but glad to hear that Shanda was receptive!

Gorgeous! Love the barefoot sandals btw! I had a custom pair made with blue mickey charms for my something blue, but I'm not sure what I'm going to so with them now that we're getting married at Sunset Pointe. Ah well! Fantastic pics, and I'm so happy for you!

Absolutely beautiful! I really love the one where you're lying your head on the piano. Congratulations!

I thought I'd seen that dress somewhere before! Great minds think alike :thumbsup2

Wow, so pretty! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much:) I like the reflection in the piano. When I can I have to add more photos to show you guys.

I also like the pic with the piano, came out great!

Did you bring the personal photos for the table with the cake...it looks like the wedding went well...I so cannot wait for ours :)

Thank you! Yes we brought the personal pictures for the cake table. It was my mothers idea:thumbsup2 Our on board wedding coordinator poicked it up from us and took care of setting it up for us.

I've been waiting for Shanda to respond to a question for over a month with repeat reminders that I haven't heard from her yet.

Not one response, not even one telling me she is still checking.

They need more people to help her. I'm starting to freak as people are planning and booking and I have no info for them.

I might as well ask my question here to get an answer

1) She is checking into having light breakfast food (mimosas, fruit, bagels etc) on the beach after the ceremony. Have any of you had anything on the beach and if so, what?

2) Is there anywhere to have a brunch after the ceremony or a private place for dinner (rooms)? I know Palo, but I have a son under 18 that I want there (he'll be 17 1/2, but they wont budge)

Try calling her. I believe I read in my planning guide that you can order food (for a charge) for when you return to the ship, I am not sure about on the beach.

I know they can have additional foods brought to the ceremony on the ship after the wedding on the island but a lot of brides go back on the island and eat at the restaurants on the island with their guests. I am actually not having a special dinner that night with my guests opting to have a brunch the next morning instead with the wedding party. I did not want to be taken out of the dinner rotation thus this was a much better option! Unfortunately the upgraded brunch is at Palo and your son would not be able to attend...

We are not doing food after at the ceremony. I am bringing a wedding photographer with me so what we are going to do is after the cake let everyone head to Castaway Cay to enjoy the beach and grab something to eat. Geoff and I will get some pictures taken around the ship and then go to Castaway Cay. We also are not doing dinner at Palo because we don't want to be taken out of the rotation and we have 15 people under 18 with us. I would have loved to do brunch but it is not offered on the 3 night cruise. I will save that for my honeymoon cruise.

Yes, we are doing the same thing will catch up with our guests for some food on Castaway as well! I am on the 4 night so they allowed me to do the special brunch, I am surprised they don't offer that on the 3 night...We just could not see missing one of the dinner rotations either!

This would not be an exactly what you are looking at, and I don't know how many people you have. But consider hosting people either in your room or maybe rotating thru a couple of rooms for a roving party type with. But you would need to do this the day after or before. Not sure if this work for you. Good luck.

Sorry, to jump in. Just started reading this thread. Trying to put the finishing touches on our VR on the Dream in May. Had to comment on this though b/c I've had contact issues with Shanda as well. I know she's a busy lady, but someone needs to help her! :scared1:

Hi, all!
I just wanted to go ahead and let everyone know that I am new to the DIS Boards and after a couple of days of browsing this thread, I knew I had to join in. I think that I will have to start a PJ soon with background like everyone else has done although we're about 14 months out from our prospective wedding date. In the meanwhile, I will continue to marvel at the mass of information on this thread... Still haven't read every post!

Hi Everyone,
Just spent a number of days reading many of the posts in this thread and searching wildly! amazing amount of info.! Thanks to you all.

Just a query someone may be able to help me with...

If we choose a non-disney vow renewal, the morning we sail, can we arrive at the port and embark in our wedding attire. I know there are rules about wedding dresses in the parks, but wondered if anyone had any knowledge of any cruise rules. Would make good embarkation pics! :thumbsup2
tia.

Shanda responded and she said they do not allow any food on the beach on CC for the wedding, but will provide some items at the cake cutting back on the ship.

Only thing allowed to take to the beach is bottled water passed out to guests.

So, am I getting the run around if others have or are having food on the beach?

I don't think I have heard of food on CC...you go back to Palo for the reception. Cookies BBQ is the only place I think I have seen food on the island

I don't think you are getting the runaround...I have never heard of any other food on the beach except the food at Cookies. I am glad you got a response!!

It might depend on how much your dress look like a wedding dress. Someone who has better info might correct me;) Something else you might want to consider is how crowded the port can get and you won't get into your room until after 1:30. You might want to bring it and wear on the formal night.

I have considered something similar. As others have already said, I would not wear it on embarkation day. It tends to be very busy and crowded and you might not get you luggage to get changed before the lifeboat drill and the sail away party and for both, a wedding dress would be a recipe for disaster.

I was considering wearing my wedding dress for formal night. We were planning to have a vow renewal on our Mexican Riviera in October, but decided to cancel this as all the people we wanted to be there either could not make it in the first place or had to cancel. I already have my dress and my shoes, etc and as we had no plans to reschedule this soon, I was wondering if I could get away with wearing the dress for formal night. I asked this question on the cruise board and everybody felt that this would be a great opportunity to wear the dress.

Of course things change. Before we even went on our first Disney Cruise, we had planned to do a vow renewal at Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, California. Then I was lucky enough to attend a vow renewal on the Disney Wonder on our second cruise and ever since then I have planned to do our vow renewal on a Disney ship. When this fell through, I did not even think to consider other arrangements.

Graham mentioned a week or so ago that maybe we should reconsider Crystal Cathedral. Initially it did not even sink in, but I decided to email their wedding coordinator on Sunday. I have been emailing backwards and forwards with her since and she suggested that we might be able to do something very simple in one of the pastor's offices. This really appeals to me. I am waiting for her to come back to me with some prices, but even having the vow renewal at Crystal Cathedral itself would cost less than doing it on the Wonder. I would provide my own flowers, but i found a gorgeous silk bouquet on Ebay. There would not be any cake, but we might be able to have a cake with dinner that evening. So it looks that this will work. I can't wait to get more details.

Corinna
