Hi! We did not add anything except the Palo Chocolate and Vanilla Sauces to out cake cutting. It is so early nothing else was needed. Our guests were on the beach by 12:30pm and we were there shortly after. We all had lunch at Cookies together and still had almost 5 hours at the beach. It was plenty of time and no one felt cheated out of Castaway Cay time!

What are the chocolate/vanilla sauces and did you have to pay extra for these?

Thanks!!!

That is the sauce they serve with the chocolate souffle they make in Palo. I had a plain yellow cake with almond buttercream and thought the chocolate sauce would be good drizzled over.
When I went to Palo to meet with the manager AND when I met with the onboard coordinator, I asked to have the sauce served with the cake..it was sooo good..I could eat that sauce right from the pot!!!

They did not charge us and I think, because we had a large party, they had 2 or 3 pots of it on the table

Oh wow I will DEFINITELY be asking for them then! I have looking through this thread, I have made it to 150! lol

We are considering canceling our DCL wedding. Its the entire lack of service/attention we are getting. If I send an email, I have to wait weeks for a reply and that is usually after sending more than one. Phone calls go unreturned. For some reason it just doesn't make me feel special at all. This lack of service combined with the unknown of a deck wedding on the Dream is having us second guess our decision.

We have found a lovely place in Cocoa Beach do do a beach wedding with pictures for under $600.

We would leave for a DCL honeymoon the next day with an extra $1900 in spending money.

I am sorry...there is a definite lack of planning/coordinating on the DCL wedding until the end...not knowing your venue would get me upset too.
I was ok with the lack of contact..but then again, I had to have reminder emails to send in my packet..so I was probably too laid back.

Good luck with your Cocoa wedding..I know where to spend that 1900...VILLA SPA!! So worth every penny!!

I completely agree with you! It always takes several emails/phone calls to get a response. They still have no idea whats going on with Dream ceremonies, and that's completely unacceptable. Like you, I wait weeks to hear back from Shanda, and when I do, 9 times out of 10 she doesn't even answer all the questions I've asked. For example, it took 5 weeks and 4 emails to get her to book our MK/AK photos, and I have yet to hear from Disney Event Photography. We pay all this money, and they treat us like we're a burden. We're seriously considering canceling the DCL wedding for the same reasons you are. This is supposed to be the biggest day of your life, and they act like they're doing us the favor of allowing us to have out wedding there. Totally uncool! Disney is known for it's customer service and attention to detail, but so far the experience has not lived up to the standard we expect from Disney.

I know you read the boards Disney- you have a big problem here and you need to do something about it! I understand that these weddings are simple and easy to organize, but that isn't an excuse for being ignored.

We will be renewing our vows on the February 20th Dream cruise. I should be able to give everyone an idea of what to expect by then - unless, of course, someone is having their ceremony before ours...

....or we hear from DCL:rotfl:

I know exactly what you all are saying. I am getting married February 15th on the Dream and have unanswered emails. I ahve not been bridezilla and bugged Shanda with questions. This is the second time I have emailed in a year wth questions. I am getting close to my wedding and have no answers to my important questions. These weddings are not free. If they can't handle the volume they need to get more help. I am very concerne3d about how it will go onboard since this will be the first sailing of the Dream with weddings  I know it will all work out in the end and we will all have a great wedding/ vow renewel.

Oh man...I would be a nervous wreck if I wasn't getting a response and my wedding was a week away. I am upset with the lack of attention we get as well. I am thinking that I am going to call and ask to speak to a supervisor or something. Maybe if they receive a lot of complaints, they might do something. It is not even the cost for the wedding, but what about the extra money they are making from our guests who wouldn't have taken a Disney cruise if it wasn't for the wedding....

Anyways good luck and please post pictures and share your experience!!

Any word on the outdoor deck location yet for the dream?

I was on the MV for the Dream and I looked for an nice outdoor space for you all .... I found nothing I'm afraid.

Now that may well be because I was battling with the flu and didn't concentrate very much, but I walked all around the outdoor areas to find something but found nothing.

On the same deck as the concierge sundeck, there is a nice spot with lots of seating/loungers but it's open to all and I don't see how they would section that off without people complaining.

The Outlook lounge is nice and anyone having their wedding there will not be disappointed. It has sweeping views of the ocean and looks very comfy.

So sorry to not be able to help with better news.

Joa

^^ Thanks for looking for us! I'm sorry you were sick though. Any chance you snapped any photos of outlook? I haven't seen any yet, and I've been googling like crazy lol

anyone thinking of calling someone higher up then shanda? seems like this is a huge issue that all of us can agree with and i dont think that any of us should have to cancel our wedding plans and dreams of having our disney cruise wedding due to lack of communication. They are the ones that need to change the way they have handled things asap and we need answers now and not tomorrow.

on a happier note i booked my honeymoon a couple days ago at walt disney world. we are staying at POFQ. pretty excited :lovestruc my dress should be coming in spring :thumbsup2 im working on my welcome beach bags for the girls and welcome backpacks for the guys should be fun since my guest list sits at 40 people right now. im also debating on getting silk flowers or putting flowers together myself for my bridesmaids instead of spending the ridiculous extra cash on disneys cruise flowers they offer in the package. and im not even no wheres near done :laundy:

how is the planning going so far for everyone else?

I am, I just talked to Pat Catans and they are copying the ships flowers and making me my bridesmaid bouquet, boutiniers and crosages.:thumbsup2( I'm sure I spelled those wrong):) It's a quarter of the price.

I think she would be interested to hear so many people are considering cancelling..I never had an issue with Cathy the old coordinator, but I know many girls at the time did..but now I am hearing the same thing about Shanda, so maybe DFTW needs to look into how the DCL is being run

I had a conversation with Cindy back when I was planning my VR back in 2009. Disney had these problems 2 years ago, and did nothing about it then. It certainly won't hurt to call and attempt to speak with her, but don't get your hopes set on an improvement.

I also have spoken with Cindy. I had horrible problems with my planner. Like I explained to them at the time, I don't care if you are working on 100's of weddings, this is MY only wedding and I need a planner who cares about it (or at least pretends to) as much as I do!

I would contact Cindy and tell her that waiting weeks for responses to a an email is unacceptable!

Oh gosh - memmmmooorrries of trying to get them to reply and make sense of everything! I'm sorry you DCL DFTW brides are having these issues! That is very unfortunate to hear. :-(

I agree with Betsy and Lisa - call Cindy!

Same issues here too. E-mail Shanda and lucky if I get a response.

Maybe some of you can answer my questions. I really want to know about hair services. I have really long hair and want it styled but wedding packet said just wash and blow dry. Do they offer styling?

They do. I had an updo. I don't remember what it costs because it was 3 years ago for me. I was additional. My "maid of honor" had hers done too. I thought they did a great job. It is hard to see in my picture that I have in my sig. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1703905 I know I have pictures of my hair in my thread.
