Hi! I'm getting married aboard the disney dream in July of 2011. I wondering if anyone had any tips or suggestions for planning the wedding or for the wedding day? Also I was wondering if it's true that on all disney cruises (well on the disney wonder and disney magic) if you were allowed to board as early as noon on the first day of sailing? Any help would be appreciated!

Ok so I have a hair question for all the DCL brides about hair..... did you do your own hair or get it done at the salon onboard? If you did it on board did they do a good job? Was it very expensive? Also, specifically for Castaway Cay brides, since the wedding is in the AM how did you get your hair done? Will the salon do an appt in the morning for us brides? I am worried that I will not have a way to get my hair done and I can't really do too much to my own hair :confused3

TIA!

I was worried about having my hair done..mostly because I am never happy when someone else does it and then I have spent all that money and must redo it myself.

I think it was $75 for a blow out..but I am not sure.

I bought one of those hair extension combs they sell in the mall..it wraps around your hair..worked great and all I had to do was pull my hair back into a pony, wrap and go!

:cool1: My best tips are just to read this thread, and click on TR's located in many signatures. You'll find tons of info!

Yes, you should be able to board by noon. I think we were there sometime between 12:30-1 if my memory serves, but we were also a lot later than I would have liked. When we first boarded the cabins were still being cleaned so it was a bit of a wait before we could get into our rooms.

I had my hair and makeup done in the salon. It was a separate appt for makeup immediately following hair. If this interests you just make sure you ask right away so they have the appt space. My hair appt. was at 8am on the day of the CC wedding. I was back in the cabin a little after 9, which left time to get dressed. Imran came to get us at about 9:45, I think! I have to go back at look at my TR! The bill including hair, makeup, and tip was over $100.

A side note for makeup, you do have to bring your own cosmetics if interested in the service. I was also told that it could only be done if there was hairstylist who also happens to do makeup on board. There are no guarantees that it could be done until boarding. I had my sister on standby in case there was no one in the salon.

Overall I think they did a great job! :goodvibes

I had my hair done in the salon and I wasn't very happy with it. I wanted big fluffy curls out of my face, even showed her 5 different pictures of what I wanted. The problem was they used a straight iron to make the curls, so they were all kinky and flat. When I mentioned to her that Beaute Speciale had just done the exact thing for my Epcot Shoot 2 days earlier, and used a curling iron, and i was totally in love with my hair. She said in England they haven't used curling irons in 10+ years and the flat iron was so much better. Yeah well I thougth it sucked! I also wasn't very impressed iwth how they did my daughters hair.....it kept falling in her eyes.

this is how Beaute Speciale did it for my Epcot Shoot.....she how full and fluffy the curls are. and it stayed that way ALL DAY LONG.....even after walkign around DTD in the heat and sweating. Looked good for dinner in Ohana.

But on the ship.....see they're all kinky and almost crusty looking. not at all soft and full. and you can see my daughter's bangs falling already.

Any one done their VR in Jan?

our VR was on the 12/10 sailing of the wonder. while we did get rained out of our Deck 7 ceremony, i know that December is usually a really good weather month. It was definately warm......we were "glistening" while walking around Nassau.

one thing we didnt' take into consideration was the sunset time. Our VR was at 430pm. we got started a bit late, then did the dance and cake. We left the lounge at 545pm to do some deck pics before Palo at 6pm, and we had maybe 5 minutes of daylight. We got just a few shots with the setting sun and everything else was night time pics....and i mean DARK night time. If it's not a full moon, it's DARK out there. :rotfl:

As soon as we got on deck.....

About 5 minutes later......

Living just a few miles due west of Nassau, it does get very dark, very quick in January..by 5:00 the sun is gone.

I had the opposite worry..ours was a 5:30 in July when the sun is still really high and I was afraid it would be too hot and everyone would be baking..we were lucky that the ship shaded the deck just in time

January can also be pretty windy

I am hopeless with my hair. I had them do an updo with flowers...lasted the entire afternoon and night. I was very happy. It was under $100 and I thought for me it was worth it. I had it done around 1:00ish if I remember correctly. It was after the morning spa appt. with my husband.

I was a Jan VR....click the link on my sig and you can read the TR. The weather overall was wonderful, although a bit cooler at CCC. We had the VR indoors, so weather was not a factor for us. We were married January 23, 1988 and our VR was on Jan 24th....our actual anniversary date fell on a non-sea day so we had to wait a day which was fine with us.

Hi Che

Thanks for the replies everybody! Did you have to provide the flowers for your hair and were they fresh or fake?

Stacy

While reading the PJs/TRs I've noticed some of the brides and those renewing their vows did a MK/Epcot photo shoot. I don't recall seeing any info about that in the packet I was given. I would like to do it...Could you tell me about it? Does it have to be right before or right after the cruise? Can we come back a few months later to do it?
Thanks

I haven't done the MK photoshoot- we are still deciding whether or not to do it next year for our 10 yr. Here is all I know, which the other gals can give you WAY more info.

It's $1100 for the MK photoshoot. You go at around 5 or 6 am depending on what they have available. You get around an hour in the park to do your pics. The $1100 comes with a few photos I believe, but if you want the CD of your photos it's an additional $750. But, you get to be in the park with no other guests!!! I want to do it just for that!!! HAHAHA, I know, everyones pics are sooo amazing from their shoots aren't they?? I love looking at them!!!

Anyways- just thought I'd give you the small amount of info I know, which isn't a ton, the ladies who have done it will be able to answer much more. :)

Is there a website where you got the info?

Go to this site and click to view either the Escape Weddings Photography PDF or the Wishes Weddings Photography PDF—inside those is a page on the in-park bridal portrait session:

Those who have WDW weddings are given up to a year to do the portrait session, and once you've done one you can do another any time you want. I would imagine it'd be the same for DCL weddings, since they are also Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, but you might want to confirm this with your planner. :thumbsup2

We did it and it ended up being a month after our VR b/c I was blessed with a horrible stomach virus from the cruise when we had scheduled our 1st one. (Bring lots of hand sanitizer with you!!!) We did Epcot and MK and it was beyond amazing for us. It was more romantic and intimate than our VR. :cloud9: Silly isn't it? We got a box of 4x6 prints of every picture, a proof book, and then I exchanged our formal albums for a credit on the CD. I got the disk of our prints for $350. I went through DPS for all of this b/c my planner at the time knew nothing of this. I wouldn't have known it was possible if it wasn't for the disboards. I called Karen at DPS and told her I was a DFTW bride and gave her my reservation number to confirm it.

This is beautiful! I love the orchids in your hair. It's one of the tough parts of not knowing what you are going to get on the ship.

I'm cheap - so I didn't want to pay for my hair to get done. I did like Betsy and bought extensions and did my own hair. They came styled already with curls, so all I had to do was pull my own hair back and clip them on. Super easy and it looked great.

We went the week before Jen and we had great weather. BUT it was SUPER DUPER windy. If it had been any more windy, we would have been moved inside. And it was still hot. A big dress, crinnie, and all of that made me sweat. I couldn't imagine doing that in June or July.

Hope this helps!

I told Cathy that I would like to have some for my hair. When I got on board, I told Florencia who arranged to have them for me. There were 2 stems of orchids that Trish and I used. They didn't charge me for them....don't know why....maybe Florencia did it for us. I didn't specify the flower type, just that I was going to get an updo and that I would like some flowers since I wasn't going to have a veil.
And they were real.

I have to admit,I never looked at the other Disney wedding locations' websites since I had my heart set on a CC ceremony.Thank you for thhe link.

Do you know if those renewing vows have within a year for the photoshoot like the brides do?
