Disney Cruise Brides - Let's Chat about our Weddings/VR's!

Hello, DIS Brides! It's been so fun catching up with everyone's posts as I've been MIA! My DM, DF, and I went on a 4-Night DREAM Cruise this week as "research" for our wedding cruise! It was a wonderful experience and that ship is GORGEOUS! I'm getting married onboard, and I will NOT be short on picturesque photo spots! I'm bringing my own photographers and I plan to get hundreds and hundreds of photos of my big day!

I asked Shanda if she could arrange a meeting with an onboard coordinator prior to my sailing and (surprise, surprise) she said no, that the onboard coordinator will be 100% involved in the wedding events of whichever couple was onboard at the time. HOWEVER, I walked up to the Guest Services Desk just to ask a few vague wedding questions, and they said "Hold on one second, let me grab the onboard wedding coordinator" !!! Out comes Laura from the UK and she was so kind and very informative when answering our questions and giving us an idea of what to expect! She was fantastic, and I hope many of you get her as your coord- Hell, I hope I get her for my coord! Even though we're getting married on the ship, she suggested that we check out the Castaway Cay wedding the next day to check out the timing from an outside perspective.

Another big question that she answered was about photography- She said that as far as she knows, there is NO problem with bringing your own photographer aboard with you and that couples do it ALL the time! *phew* What a huge relief!

Unfortunately for me (whomp, whomp) the size of my wedding party is much too large for any of their typical ceremony locations onboard (The Outlook or the Deck 12 Aft Verandah by Palo...) With my 50 or so guests, she assumes we'll get married and have our celebration inside the D Lounge... Now, if anybody has SEEN the D Lounge, it's not a very romantic setting... at all... With the rainbow LED's around the room, the short modular grey chairs and the neon green and obnoxious orange couches... It's not exactly my idea of "wedding" BUT... Laura says that they'll project the Disney Fairytale Weddings logo all over those LED screens and that helps it look a bit better. I may be okay with the gray chairs, but I really want those awful couches hidden from plain sight! Haha! I do love that the D-Lounge is enclosed and no guests would be able to ENTER my room, but there's a few portholes overlooking the Deck 4 verandah and there's a glass wall so unsuspecting guests walking by can see how awesome our wedding is!

Anyways... if anyone has questions about the boat, shoot them my direction and I'll try to help out with my 4-nights experience of walking around the Dream! Feel free to check out my photobucket album of all the photos I took on my trip- they're mostly of interesting things and places with a few photos of us thrown in.

When in September are you getting married??? My wedding is onboard the Dream on the 13th-16th sailing. It's exciting to hear from more DCL brides getting married in the same month :thumbsup2

I thought the EXACT same thing as you, AND I had the EXACT same reaction as you! NOWHERE online does it say you need a deposit on your wedding package, it implies that you only need your cruise deposit... When booking, I brought it up to the CM and they asked where I got that notion from, I told them, and they just shrugged it off... I think they want to you make your plans, and book that cruise BEFORE you find out about that wedding deposit to ensure that you are indeed going to book the wedding. It's sneaky, and I was very displeased with that. I was fortunate enough that my mom put the wedding deposit onto her Disney Visa because I didn't have the $800 upfront to secure my place.

hi, could you please tell me if you saw the wedding location Meridian Patio
while you were on the disney dream as we think that were we are going to pick to get married as its an outdoor location and there is only the 2 of us,
do you know if they decoate it in any way for the wedding and do you know how it is set out for the wedding?
many thanks for your help,

DH and I are planning a VR on the Dream for this October or November. Very excited!

Does anyone have info on the photography packages that are offered and what they cost? Thanks!

Hi and Congratulations!!!

The smallest package is $399 the largest is $999.

We chose the large package it included the photographer, 30 8x10's, 30 5x7's, (albums for photos) 25 wedding announcements and the CD of all the pictures taken during and after the ceremony.

How many years will you be celebrating?

Good Luck,
Lori

Yes, I saw the Meridian Patio, but I didn't give it much more than a glance because my party is MUCH too large for that space. It'll be great for a small wedding though! It's on Deck 12 Aft, between Palo and Remy. (You have to check out that bathroom, it's so golden and opulent!) But since that patio is wedged between two very very nice restaurants, it has a very nice atmosphere. I actually (sort of) witnessed a couple get engaged out on that patio on the last night of our cruise- we were talking to the Remy hostess, Joanne, and she was just bubbling over with excitement because she knew they were about to get engaged! :goodvibes I know there's other brides on here who have shared photos from their meridian patio ceremonies, you may just have to keep flipping through pages and pages and pages to find them! Best of luck to you!

I'm VERY excited! Just went in for alterations on my dress yesterday and I'll be able to pick it up 2nd week of March! :goodvibes It's starting to feel real!

Thank you Lisa!

I love it too, we had even told Lindsay not to be surprised if one of them was with us. We thought it would be Emma she's usually the clinger LOL. But she walked out with Lindsay all smiles.

I see you are going on the magic soon.
Have a wonderful time,
What ports are you going to stop at?

We are doing a 6 night on the Magic. We will be stopping at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Castaway Cay. We cannot wait!!

Great, thanks for the info! We'll actually be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary and we've been together for 8 years. We had a big wedding back home last year and had the best time, but we feel like we missed so much of it because the day went by in a flash. So this time it will just be the 2 of us. :yay:

You are going to have a great time!!!!!
Enjoy every minute!

Lisa,

I'm so excited for you, we were on the Western carribean itinerary too.
If you don't have any excursions planned in Cozumel or Grand Caymen, Margaritaville is in both ports. We went to the one in Cozumel, it was so much fun. We had a table outside by the water. They will supply you with life vests (of course the tip jar is there for you. ;) ) you can go into the water and they have all kinds of blow up water toys out there to play on. My kids had the best time out there. Yes, the are about your age too.;)

Then we had a few drinks and some lunch.

Have a great time on the cruise, the best vacation ever!!

Haha! I was just looking at my signature timer and was thinking "I wonder what happens when we get really close? Does the boat just fall off the edge of the world?" (blonde moment-and yes I can say that because I am one!)

I would check out the PJ's of other cruise brides. There are tons of ideas out there. Some of the ladies made their own and some ordered them from another DISer who does really great work (I can't remember where I saw her mentioned, but I'm sure someone else on here can point her out for you). Congrats and Good Luck with your save the dates! The ladies on this thread are so helpful, you'll love it! (Disney does a lot to help out too.... ;) )

Our 20th anniversary VR is scheduled for the June 2nd Fantasy sailing. I'm trying to decide on everything from the selections available.

I'm disappointed that no blue flowers are available on the ship, so I was thinking about adding some blue ribbon to an ivory and yellow bouquet. Do you think they will do that for me? Anyone try to do this in the past?

I would email your coordinator and ask. If anything, I'm sure you could bring the ribbon with you and attach it how you like it on the day of. I know they ask what your colors are when you fill out your paperwork to send in.

I actually wanted blue flowers as well and asked Shanda about it. She said they didn't do blue flowers but could do the blue ribbon around it. It looked exactly as I wanted the day of the wedding.

Wow! Thanks for the information.
