Hi,
I am new here but I wanted to say "hi" to everyone. My husband and I have decided on a VR in Jan 2013 on the Fantasy! We are both very excited!

Sharon

Congratulations!

For anyone who had floral delivered to the ship, did you tell DFTW you were going to be doing this or did you just do it?

I sorta told Cindy (the old land coordinator ) but not really..just mentioned I didn't need additional floral because I had some coming.

My OB coordinator took the initiative and had it put in a cooler with my DFTW floral..but I am not sure they do that anymore..might vary person to person and the amount of floral

Hi

My husband, Brian will have been together 11 years and married 9 when we do our VR. We have a son who will be 6 and a daughter who will be 4. It has been an amazing and difficult journey (at times) for us. My parents are not in the best of health and I had a major health scare last spring so we decided that now was the time for to start planning a VR!

We both LOVE Disney. My husband Brian proposed at the Magic Kingdom. We got married at Disney World a year later (Wedding Pavilion, Living Seas, Epcot desert party).

We are doing our VR on the Jan 19th 2013 cruise on the Fantasy. My parents and sister have already booked their cruise.

I got a call from someone at DFTW who told me that they had received our information from the cruise line and that as soon as they had finished the planning packet for the 2013 weddings they would send it to so we can begin planning ! DFTW thought the packet would go out sometime in Jan.

Sharon

Enjoy the Planning!!!

We will be celebrating our 25th when we have our Vow Renewal THIS MONTH!!
(I can't believe its just 3 weeks from tomorrow).
We are keeping ours very casual our children and 2 beautiful grandchildren will be with us.

Hello everyone! New to the forum, just found out yesterday (new years eve) that me and my fiance will be FINALLY getting married in October on Castaway Cay! So excited!! Been there once and we loved it! So why not get married there!! Loved looking at the photos from your weddings and everything looks so beautiful. Can't wait until my dream wedding. :)

Hi,
I just need to share the stress and family drama. My husband and I set our VR for next Jan (2013). We had already booked the cruise and VR when my sister decides to have a fit. She has been engaged for a few years and keeps changing her wedding date. ( She has already had her date set, the location reserved and CHANGED it 3 times. ). She keeps putting it off (I think she really doesn't want to get married). Anyway, now she is upset that my husband and I are having a VR! She thinks we shouldn't have one until she has been married for at least a year. ( know idea if or when she will get married). My mother in the course of this wants " no drama" and for me to move the VR to a later date ( again , no idea when, just when my sister will be ok with it). I told my mom my sister would never be ok with my husband and I renewing our vows and it was silly to expect me to plan my life around what she may or may not do sometime in the future!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Sharon

Sharon, I am so sorry that your family is causing you stress. I am failing to understand what your vow renewal has to do with your sister's wedding unless you were planning it at the same time her wedding is taking place. I think she is totally unreasonable to expect you to wait until a year after her wedding especially as she does not seem to have any firm plans.

Corinna

Thanks! I really don't understand the problem- our VR is on our Anniversary so it really shouldn't be a shock to her . I don't see what the VR has to do with her wedding ! ( especially since the date/ year of her wedding keeps changing)

Sharon

So it appears disney wedding website is now referring people to the honeymoonwishes.com website for wedding and honey moon registry. I was actually able to register for our cruise today.

I would imagine that your sister is probally a little bit jealous and doesnt know how to say it or may not even know what she is feeling....

She proablly wishes she had someone liek you must have for her to put off a wedding and for you to be renewing vows, obviously you are very happy and she cant seem to find that yet.

Thanks! I have decided to NOT let her ruin this and just enjoy planning the VR since it has nothing to do with her!

I got an email from Shanda? Yesterday with the 2012 planning info as an attachment. When I booked the VR the person I spoke with at DFTW said they were updating the guide to include stuff for the Fantasy and the 2013 guide wasn't done yet. I sent Shanda an email to ask about this. There is no point in using the 2012 guide if there is a chance they are going to change my options in a few months!

We weren't planning on bringing our own photographer anyway, but I just got an email from Disney basically warning me off it. They said:

It doesn't seem like anyone here has ever had an issue, though, so I'm assuming they're just blowing smoke to get you to use their photographer. But it did make me curious, so I figured I'd ask if anyone who brought their own photographer encountered any problems getting the shots they wanted.

Sounds like what DFTW did a couple years ago with in park weddings as well. Used to be okay for outside photographers, now it's a no no. More clamping down and requiring you use their services.

True, I went through 3 planning guides before getting the right one. It's good to look through and get ideas, but don't set our heart on any one thing, it may change!

Welcome, Sharon! Sorry that you're having so much family drama with your indecisive sister! Kudos for keeping with your plans despite her fits! You deserve a beautiful VR with your hubby! I'm jealous that you're going on the Fantasy! I've got a 01/22/12 Dream cruise (for "research!") and then my wedding cruise 09/13/12, also on the Dream! Maybe we'll have our honeymoon on the Fantasy!!

Happy Planning! :goodvibes

Hi Ladies. Do any of you know if you can bring fresh floral onto the ship or are there any regulations regarding that? My friend is getting married at WDW and then going on DCL and she wants to bring her bridal bouquet with her and not just toss it. TIA :goodvibes

Hi Skylarr! Hope all is well with you. I do believe she should be able to bring her bouquet along (since fresh flowers are sent aboard many of times as gifts). I was able to bring my flowers off the ship also. Hope this helps.

Hi! Thank you, all is well here. I also went to the DCL website and it isn't on the list of prohibited items so she should be all set. I was hoping there wouldn't be an issue but I was worried there might be a customs issue or something, I know you can't bring fruit and certain things. Thanks for the help!!

Hi Ladies

Quick question. When you arrive at the port, what did you do with your wedding/renewal dresses?

Did you give them to the men taking your suit cases or hold on to it?

I am a little nervous to turn it over to anyone.

Thank you, Lori

Wishing you all a beautiful holiday. :santa:

Lori...I took my dress on the ship then walked right to Guest services (you guys will want to do this any way to try to get Tea Party Tickets for Emma if they are having a tea party on your sailing) and I gave my dress to them. They had it steamed and in my room for me later that night.

The latest response:

I'm giving up now since she's not really answering my questions. If anyone's interested, this is all according to Karen Serrette, and I'm still not sure who she is.

That probably is possible..MAYBE..and this is a BIG maybe, they would allow you to be escorted into the kitchen and do it.
I know someone here took the galley tour and saw their wedding cake being made that day..so if you put the request in the day you board (with the dining manager or onboard coordinator) maybe they would..or at least take the items and try to put it on

What if you hired them to photograph you as a family! I had a client pay extra to have family photographs taken on the ship. That is full crap. They are just getting mad that so may brides have opened their eyes to the crappy photography Disney is offering and brining their own! Again it's my only regret!
