Hey everyone,

I hope you can all help me. I have read for many months on this forum that if you prepurchase onboard stateroom credit using the Disney Visa card, it would count under the 0% APR for 6 months perk we get. I even called Chase 2 months ago to confirm and today when I was planning to call Disney to put some money in our stateroom credit, I cant get either side to confirm this. So I would love to hear that someone recently has done this.

I did this in February for a cruise in June. I actually added the standard gratuities amount to our final payment, and the entire amount was listed as 6 months with no interest.

Me too. Added gratuities and enough to cover excursions. Paid off in 6 months interest free.

So wait did you add it on your final payment or separately? From what I can understand you should be able to do it separately.

It's just so frustrating because Disney and Chase are telling me this isnt a thing but I added 1000 in stateroom credit, for our cruise that leaves Monday so hopefully we should be good

Added the gratuities with final payment. Gave myself a prepaid on board credit a month before the cruise. Both were eligible.

Thank you! I was slightly depending the stateroom credit being part of the 0% lol.

I started doing this 2 cruises ago. I use a TA and about 4 days before the cruise I tell her how much to put on my account. Most recently was my cruise on 4/27/19. The money you put for your on board account will be it's own financing timeline and it will show as a separate line on your Visa statement. If you don't spend it all DCL will credit the balance back to your credit card. If you spend more than your on board amount you placed before the cruise, the additional charges are not eligible for financing.

If you book a place holder (or new cruise) while on the ship - that money does get financed. Last cruise we added $500 to on board just before sailing and the $250 place holder it showed up as a $750 qualified promo transaction.

Have a GREAT trip.

Truly thank you everybody, been having a small panic attack about this. Just wish it was stated within the perk details.

How do they treat the balance that is subject to the 6 moths interest free vs the regular balances? So If I add $1000 OBC that is 0% for 6 months and I have $1000 in "regular" charges for a total balance of $2000 and I send a payment of $1000, does it come off the regular balance, the 0% balance, or 50/50?

Are you asking about when you pay the bill to Chase each month? The first payment you make each month is credited to the regular balance. Any additional payments outside your regular billing cycle are credited to your promotional balance -- this includes any returns or refunds from other vendors. There may be a point that they start to apply a portion of payment to the promotional balance, but since I always make at least minimum payment towards that I haven't noticed different (I pay the full regular balance plus a portion of the promotion balance each month).

Enjoy your vacation!

This has been my experience too. A payment is applied first to the non-promotional balance, and then to the promotional balance. So, if I made a payment of $1100 when I had $1000 remaining for payments toward a cruise and $1000 in new monthly charges, $1000 was applied to my new charges and $100 was applied toward the cruise, so I still owed $900 toward the cruise.

Similarly to lanejudy, I calculate how much of the "interest-free" balance I need to pay each month to have it paid off within 6 months, and add that to my other monthly charges. I noticed on this month's bill that Chase was providing a specific amount that needed to be paid to avoid interest charges -- that amount included my monthly charges and a small percentage of my remaining cruise balance (roughly 1%).
