Disney could really learn a lesson from SeaWorld!!!

I think they have children 10 and over eat off the adults menu because there are alot of children who can eat an adult meal and still be looking for more like my 10 year old son. I don't know how he stays so slim, but then, he is very active in sports.

Well, I may have a different perspective because I have 2 girls, but I do not know a lot of 10 y.o. who can eat an adult meal at Disney. _I_ cannot eat a full meal at Disney, but then I am not a big eater. My girls have lots of friends and we are the "hang out house", so I feed a lot of kids. None of the ones that have been to my house would be able to eat an adult meal. That includes my 14 y.o.s friends too (mostly girls but 1 or 2 boys.) Maybe they just don't like my cooking. :rotfl:

It doesn't matter to me if Disney has the child cut off at 9 y.o., we just plan around it. Mostly we will order 2 adult meals for our family of 4 (DH shares with DD10 and I share with DD14). We probably will get a dessert with this too. DH might get an appetizer if he is particularly hungry, but won't if he isn't overly hungry. If they had the young adults meal, we would just plan differently. It would be nice though!!

We each will get our own counter service meal usually.

All kids are different. I'm just used to hockey players who can eat you out of house and home. I know not all kids are like that I know if I look at a piece of chocolate cake I gain a pound. I could just barely fininsh an adult meal at Disney but my son had no problem

You've got to consider one thing...you're dealing with Disney. They're numbers are so high right now I think they could care less about adding on a young adults menu. Also, think about the kitchen staff -- essentially you would be adding 5-6 more menu items and the current trend in Disney restaurants is to cut down the sizes of the menus so that prep time is less, dining times are faster, and they can get more people in and out.

You know we are debating seaworld - with our family of 6 it is very very expensive(and we love to feed the dolphins!) But hearing this about the restaurant may push us over- My DS loves sharks and I know this might get me out of the Coral Reef! Hmmmmm.

Sharks Underwater Grill is very good. I really enjoyed the tuna entree. The kids liked their food also. The atmosphere is great--the kids were given shark identification cards, which kept them occupied while the grownups relaxed with a glass of wine. The tank has a lot more to look at than Coral Reef, in my opinion. If you have time in your itinerary and room in your budget, you should try to fit a day at Sea World in.
