Disney Collections???

We collect Disney pins, Disney books and magazines and Disney "paper" (maps, annual reports, brochures, cast magazines, etc..) We also have a big Disney DVD and CD collection:)

I always add to my DVD collection - but I am thinking of starting the Pins myself! Where do I start?

jeeze, Debs5angels- Don't collect just for the sake of collecting! Collect ONLY what you really enjoy! If you have to ask "what to collect", save your money and visit Disney more often.

dh collects bobble heads... when they came out with disney ones, he started collecting those, one each trip - which by my sig that is quite a few times... lol

when we got married last year, and went for our honeymoon, we decided to start collecting one christmas ornament a year. we go the one that has mickey and minnie on it and says "just married". i had our names and date put on it. i haven't gotten one for this year yet, but i want to get another and put the year on it, or find a nice one with the year on it already. we also have the mickey and mickey stocking stuffers, with disney stocking holders, and a mickey and minnie christmas tree skirt.

for a wedding gift, my aunt bought us some kitchen utinsils, spoon holder, pot holders and an apron, i have them all hanging in my kitchen. now, i have a disney kitchen. i always find something cute to add when we go. i have disney linen placemats & napkin rings for my dining table. but it is a very subtle disney. (it is all light blue with an alternating pear & apple with minnie hiding behind the fruit. the napkin rings are just a black iron ring, with a mickey head cut out in the middle) i have the coasters too.

i was sad to see that the disney home store closed down. the goofy's candy store opened up in there. They opened up a small store called Mickey's Pantry (or something like that) in the store where the candy store used to be. but they only have a small selection of items in there, nothing like the disney home store. :guilty:

i have a separate dvd rack that is just for disney movies. i like to get them when they come out. my 2 y/o godson is knows exactly which rack to go to when he is in our house and wants to watch a movie. can't wait for toy story and cinderella to come out later this year

our family laughs and calls our house a disney house. :rotfl:

pick something you like, or maybe decorate a particular area of your home, or a small collection.

Mickey2000..........WOW!!!!! :earseek:

All I can say is....I USED to think of myself as a Disney collector...I am humbled after seeing your room! :worship:

Also, love the curtain valance! My mom has the same one and the matching Disney characters bedspread and sheets in the spare bedroom she uses for the grandkids!

Myself, I have an EXTENSIVE Disney sweatshirt collection, I'd say I have about 50, along with many t-shirts. Then there is my Disney keychain collection, coffee mug collection...I LOVE Disney mugs! I have almost 150 and then there's pens and magnets. Disney makes some very cool magnets! I also collect the pressed pennies (very fun) and I just started collecting pins and I love them! I don't have them in cool frames like Mickey2000 though, so far they are on my Disney tote bag and on the visor in my car.

I collect walt disney classics collections. Those are figures they sell that you have to join a club to collect. I have them in a curio. Have too many and need to get a new curio. I also collect christmas ornaments specifically Christopher Radko ornaments. So if I find any of those they are coming home with me. He makes a lot of disney ornaments my favorite is Cindy's Castle I got on 2000 trip.

DH collects anything Donald Duck, mugs, and pins.
DD collects pins. DD and I both have Italian charm bracelets. I plan on getting a gold pendant hopefully of the castle this time.

I collect the mini snowglobes. I can get my favorite characters in a snowglobe and still have room to add to my collection. Last year was our first family trip and we got a mini snowglobe with ears and "2004". I'll be hunting for a "2005" one this year.

MIckey2000- great room. Roughly how many pins do you think you have?

All 3of my kids collect pins.

Dh collects mugs and popcorn buckets.

MY fav are my Chritmas ornaments and my "Winnie the Pooh" kitchen collection. I just started with a few snowglobes but they are pricey. I also add a fridge magnet and chip clip every trip.

All 5 of us get a new t-shirt every trip.

My Dbil also collects the WDCC figurines, he has the budget for it and just bought 4 yes 4 new curio cabinets aside from the one in his office....That house is very well insured let me tell you.

He has over 150 of these figurines and displays them by themes on his shelves. He also collects the Disney DVD's has over 175 and they are all on display in his basement. Just like in a video store.

Let me tell you that is one impressive basement he has.

I mostly collect pins, ornaments, and jewelry.

I collect shot glasses, get one each year. I also collect post cards, always buy some of WDW when I'm down there. I also collect the lithographs that come out with each movie at the Disney Store. I always check the ones out when I'm at WDW to see if there is anything that I might want to add to my collection. Of course the easiest thing for me to collect is to get autographs and pictures with the different characters at the park.

Now I know why I love these boards... kindred spirits! I collect elephants and have a rather large collection ( my DH would tell you massive!). So when I am at WDW I am always looking for Dumbo (you know him? the almost forgotten character at Disney Marketing?). Last year I was thrilled to find Dumbo mugs. DH only let me buy 2 because our suitcases were already bursting, and yes I always start the vacation with an empty suitcase but already had overflowed it! I moaned and complained after we got home so much that DH contacted Disney and bought me 4 more for Christmas :Pinkbounc I'm hoping to get a few more when we go back this December.

The only other thing that is a must have every year is a photo or scrapbook with the year on it from Disney. I put all of our pictures, maps, room bills, airline tickets, restrauant bills... everything in it from that years trip. When we look at these it brings back all of the great memories of that trip.

I started collecting several things a few years ago, most of which are free.

I always keep my old park passes, PI tickets, etc. Not exacly free, but they're already paid for, so I keep them. I have park hoppers going back to 1998.

I started keeping park maps and resort maps a few years ago, as well. These items are free and readily available, and show the differences in the parks over the years. I always keep a nice, flat, unfolded set from each trip, and after the CM writes all over the resort map when I check in (to show me where my room is), I always ask for a clean one as a souvenier.

I take a lot of photos in the parks, so once in a while I will take a photo of a specific spot (Star Tours, the Water Bridge, and Plaza de Los Amigos are my faves) to compare with older photos taken from the same perspective.

I also try to buy some small items with the year and the current celebration logo on them. T-shirts, Xmas ornaments, car license plates, whatever I can find with the logo or year on it will come home with me, then get scanned and used as the wallpaper for my trip reports and backgrounds for my digital photo albums.

We like collecting the pressed pennies. I also started collecting antenna toppers last year.

I also collect the antenna toppers. Each time we go I check to see if there is something I don't have. DH sees some and asks if I have them and usually its "have it".

They are great because they are so inexpensive.

Mickey2000,
I love your room. We also bought that framed pin set that has the 2001 mat. After not getting it, I decided to find all the pins in it and have it done my self. I have all the pins, I just haven't got the mat cut yet.

Ok, I give- why can't I see your pin room pictures?????

Lisa
