Disney Collection????

The contract I am waiting on right now has alot of points available to me the minute I clear ROFR and Title (my fingers are crossed BIGTIME!!). I will lose a large amount of these points October 1 of this year if I don't get busy so here is my question....

I have been told that the Disney Collection is about staying at the other Disney Resorts (non-DVC)... can you tell me how far out do I make reservations through Member Services and how hard are they to get?

I sure don't want to lose these points, and the only place right now I would want to vacation is WDW so any information you could give... would HELP!!!

First, try and use the points at a DVC resort. You will get greater value that way.

If there is nothing available for the time you'd like to travel, then using them to stay at a different WDW resort is not a bad idea.

You can book a Disney Collection hotel 11 months prior to check-out. There is another "catch". You cannot make a reservation during the last 60 days of your Use Year. You can travel during this time but the reservation has to be made further out. (DVC needs to have time to "sell" your DVC accommodation to "pay" for your non-DVC trip.)

You say you'll lose points October 1 so I assume you have an October Use Year. Actually, your points have to be used by September 30. The night of October 1 would require points from the 2004 Use Year.

So, with an October Use Year, you must make any non-DVC reservation on or before July 31 (July 30 this year since the 31st is a Saturday and MS is not open) to travel between August 1 and September 30.

On the money PamOKW... Thanks... very valueable and imporatant information. I never thought about there being a time limit to making a reservation but it makes sense. Looks like I have a little more research to do and a WHOLE lot of reading when I get my membership package...

Pam, is there a limit on how far in advance you have to make ressies other than the UY? I am curious about this because if I can get into the system soon, I have points from my June 04 UY that are in "reserved status" I plan to go to DL (see countdown below) and was hoping I could try to use them there. If not I will just use them somewhere else later this year
