Disney Collection - which would you choose?

I know that using points for the disney collection is almost alway a HUGE waste of points, but if you happened to be treating yourself for one trip - which 2-3 would be your top choices?

We are going to WDW over Christmas 2010 and we're (or I should say I am) a hotel-hopper. Everyone else in my family just goes along with my type-A plans that I make months in advance (ok, almost a year in advance).

This year, we're staying at our home resort of SS. We are currently booked for the 20th-26th nights, but at the 7 month mark, I'd really LOVE LOVE LOVE to get into an AKV for 2-3 nights at the front or end of our trip. But, I don't know our odds of that, esp so close to Christmas.

And even if we did get AKV, I might still wanna add 1-2 more nights - lol. My hubby thinks I want to live at Disney - ssshhhhh...I think I do!

So, which 2-3 do you think are the best choices? this will be holiday peak time, so should I just be patient and wait and hope for reduced rates for room only through CRO?

(Geez - I wish they gave us DVC members 25% off on resorts, too!)

I am taking it you rinterest is in just the Disney collection resorts, not DVC resorts?

First on the list would be GF and the second would be the Polynesian. I have not actually stayed at the Poly but everything I have read others say about makes me want to stay there real Soon!

BTW don't the bean counter money crunchers tell you it's a waste to use your points for these places. It's true you can esell points, bank points, etc but they are your points and if you want to make it simple and stay where you want using them to do it, I say go for it!

Have fun! :)

My first choice would be the Polynesian. I am not a fan of staying at the GF, although I like to visit to see the Christmas decorations. I also like the Yacht Club. We had two wonderful connecting rooms there a couple Christmases ago, and the location is wonderful. I am also a fan of the Wilderness Lodge at Christmas, but that's not part of the Disney Collection. Let us know what you decide.

During the holidays I love to stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but I have to say a regular room there just doesn't compare to the Villas. Secondly, would be the poly. It is just so interesting to walk around in and the location is great.

I'm a monorail fan - so Polynesian wins my vote. As the kids get older GF is on the list too.

As is the case with a lot of places at Disney, I can forget where I am while walking the grounds of the Poly.
