Disney collection swap out

My college daughter and friend want to go to the world the 1st week of March. Obviously, there is very little available when I checked a few minutes ago. I have never used points for the Disney collection but a moderate would only be 22 points a night that week. Would there be any hope of me doing that at this late date? Do you have to pay the $95 fee to swap out to a moderate? I know it's never the best use of points, but if no DVC is available I want to book something for her.

Yes, there will be the $95 fee IF they have availability. I'd actually waitlist and book a regular cash room as backup. If the waitlist fills you can cancel the cash room up until 5 days ahead with no penalty. There may be discounts available for the cash room . Also check the RAT now ands then and see if anything opens up to book on points.

Your other issue is your UY. If you are in the last four months of your UY, you cannot book the Disney Collection. And then there is the resale versus direct issue.

No, I'm a February use year so I'm good there. We are VWL owners with all points purchased direct, so that's not an issue for me either.

You could also pay cash for a room and rent out points to pay for it.

It's only waived for RCI Exchanges.

Thanks for all your responses. I was able to get them 5 days at Saratoga in a preferred studio by stalking the members website. No exchange necessary!
