Although I have stayed at this hotel (on points) 3x already, I have not yet had the CA Adventure view. Has anyone stayed in this area before? MS told me that king beds would not be available for this view, which I thought was unusual. Just looking for any feedback on GCH views of the park..Thanks!

If you haven't already, you might want to post your question on the DisneyLand (California) forum - bet you'll get a lot more feedback there.

I don't know anything about the beds- but I saw a room with a park view on Great Hotels with Samantha Brown and it was so totally cool, I immediately decided that I needed to plan my 1st trip to DL!

I put this question on the DVC board since it is part of the Disney Collection, and I am planning the trip using points.

We all know we can visit any of the DIS Boards for a multitude of topics such as any DVC Resort on Resorts Board, DDP and DDE on Restaurant Board, etc.

Hope you understand CarolMN! Thanks!

I have stayed in a room with this view (Queen bed with bunk beds) and although my family enjoyed it, I think we still preferred the DD view rooms mainly because of the fireworks.

One benefit of staying in the park view room, however, was that it "tipped" us off to the fact that they sometimes allow hotel guests into CA 1/2 hour earlier than the general public...:thumbsup2

Thanks for the tip about the early entry into CA for hotel guests. That's something I had not heard about!

Theme Park views are quite nice and sometimes you can also see the fireworks at the other park from your balcony. We have preferred theme park over downtown Disney view.

Another option we also have tried at the GC is the concierge level and that was not worth it, in our opinion.

Sure I do, LOL - just thought there would be more posters on the Disneyland Board with "view" and "bed" experience at the GC. :teeth:

With MS advising members that a particular category from our Vacation Planner is not available with a certain bed size, that really is a DVC question for people who stay there on points. Was just trying to find out if any DVC members staying on points were able to obtain that bed size in that view.

Not that I don't visit other boards, but I enjoy posting here on DVC with pertinent questions! Plus it's my job....hehehehe.

We had a beautiful view of the bear. It was lovely! I was up really early (DS was 3 months old) and I watched as the dark sky faded to daylight.

We had 2 queen beds, concierge, DCA view. The resort is very nice and the direct access to DCA is priceless. We went on the raft ride, went up to the room and changed out of our wet clothes. We enjoyed the rest of the day in nice dry clothes. It was fun people watching from the room too!

Good luck!

We lucked out getting a CA Park view on our last trip even though we had only book a standard view room. :woohoo: It was on the top floor of the hotel next to what looked like a Presidential Suite. I was very impressed. The view itself was bets for its uniqueness, but I didn't feel we got anything more than a bird's eye view of everything going on in our section of CA. DS actually got sick on the trip and I missed the Main Street Electrical Parade both nights we were there. Bummer. :guilty: And the parade could NOT be seen from the balcony, although hearing the music and not being able to see it was torture. The best part was getting a great view of Grizzly Peak and the rapids ride. Would I pay for the view in the future? Probably not. The DD view seems more to my liking though, as I like seeing bonuses from the rooms like fireworks. :wizard:

Bnlbebes, what kind of bed(s) did you have in your CA Park view room?

We would enjoy the park view too, but the king bed is important to us. We did have a DTD view last time also booked on points that did have the king bed.

If we have to, will stick with a standard view, which MS said is no problem to book king bed on points. Just nice to enjoy the view if possible!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

CarolAnn...do you have a points chart for the Grand Californian?? We are looking to rent points from a DVC member to stay there 12/5/07 - 12/9/07 but I have no idea how much it would cost because I can't seem to figure out how many points it would be!! (There would only be 2 Adults any size room will do)

Our CA Park view room had 2 double/queen beds. One for DW and I and one for our sick  DS.

It usually only makes sense to rent points to stay at a DVC resort. The point costs for the non-DVC are pretty high.

For those 4 nights, it would be 126-206 points, depending upon view.

I guess we're better off to just boook the room ourselves rather than rent points!! I didn't realize it would be that many points!! Thanks so much for your help!!

Well, I'm a Carol Ann, but not CarolAnnC, will I do? :)

There is a link to the 2007 point chart for the resorts at Disneyland in this thread:
