Interesting read in The Times about Iger's transition and apparent transition back to heading TWDC. Also worth nothing, the article mentions fewer employees and "traditional" practices across Disney after this pandemic. Worth a read:

Just read that this morning. I was shocked to learn that Disney employed over 200,000 people before the virus. I always thought it was less than 100,000.

Walt Disney World itself employs 77,000ish. Disney is a global company. They have employees all over the world.

It’s interesting to see how many sites are reporting that Iger is essentially “taking back” Disney or asserting his control over Chapek, like it’s some sinister move on Iger’s part. Perhaps I’m just naive but the way I read the article was just that the senior-most executive is working more actively and broadly in his new role than he expected. I don’t see it as sinister or maniacal, more just a matter of the driving instructor grabbing the trainee’s steering wheel during unexpected severe storm to use a somewhat odd analogy.

Yep you are correct. People like to run with headlines that make things seem bigger or crazier than they are.
