So my friend is going on her first trip this summer. A very kind Disser hooked me up with a code to give her. Finally a CM said they could apply the 40% discount to the room if the booked the package and changed her dates. So she did. Well, I just ran the numbers on the Disney website, and sure enough she is paying rack rate!

Its gotta be an honest mistake right? A CM wouldn't do this deliberately, right? I just can't believe it!

Usually the 40% off discounts are with a PIN code, and those are non transferrable. It's possible that when the cm booked it that it went through, only to revert to "rack rate" when they discovered the error. If it wasn't a PIN code, I would call back and ask them about it. Does she have any paperwork that reflects the discount? It should say it on her itinerary if there was one applied.

I agree. If the PIN and discount weren't hers to start with ( and instead belonged to a "kind" Dis'er ) then when the dates were changed the PIN dropped off and she lost the discount. It could be however that she actually had her own PIN to start with as has happened to alot of people when they called and found out, in which case the CM probably forgot to "store" the ressie with the promo discount PIN code. Your friend should call back and ask for someone to be sure she has the 40% off room rate but she'll probably be asked, if not, to supply the PIN. If it isn't hers, then she probably won't get the discount. A discount that never belonged to someone in the first place, even if applied in error, does not have to be honored ( not saying this is the case though for the OP).---Kathy

Ok ok so here's the skinny! She called about the code and they found the code and pin with her name. But it was the select dates=different discounts. Which is why she moved her trip. She made 3 calls last night. The first person was rude (can you believe it!). The second person was very nice but said she couldn't break it down. But she actually did say that she was paying $400 for a $500/night room (a discount of 20%).

At this point she called me back. I said that CM's should be able to help her, sans attitude. And tossed out all the options I could think of, like holding this reservation and then changing it if something else comes along. But no matter what, someone should be able to answer her questions.

So she called back and spoke to someone very nice who was able to help her out. First, she hadn't had to book a package to get that discount. She could get a better discount with different accomodations, but the options didnt work for them. So in the end, the CM was able to balance to total price by discounting the dining portion (of course we'll see what happens in a few weeks).

So in the end, Disney comes through and makes it right. Phew!
