I'm starting a Disney Club at my high school and I'm going tomorrow morning to talk to the dean and the vice principle about it. I need to explain what the club will do and what the meetings will consist of. So far I have a few ideas and I wanted some opinions.

So, obviously, the Disney Club would meet and watch multiple Disney movies. Second of all, I thought it might be a good idea to make some fundraisers a donate money to the Make A Wish foundation to send a cancer patient to Disney World/Disneyland. This would mean that I need to come up with fundraising ideas. I figured a bake sale would be a good one and making character cookies and frosting cupcakes with colors and symbols from different movies. Maybe also have a movie night at the high school and have like a $5 admission fee and play a classic disney movie and hand out popcorn and snacks for optional donations.

I was also considering, too, getting some of the memebers and trying to coordinate a trip to Disney to do one (or multiple) of the Disney runs that go on every year. Another trip idea would be touring colleges local to the Disney/Orlando areas and touring behind the scenes at WDW and learning about the Disney College Program.

I'd really love any opinions or ideas you have.

Well, I think you won't get many members, but if you'd like to, go ahead. That being said....

If you manage to get any of the veteran fine arts people (like choir, theatre, orchestra, band, etc) you could talk about coordinating or putting a Disney themed show together, like a few years ago the choir at my school was going to Disney and did a Disney themed concert. You could also add in scenes or could just do a Disney play. If you have a LOT of RESOURCES and TIME, one weekend you could do like a children's Disney carnival type thing, with Disney character themed games/activities, like Lilo and Stitch's Hula Hoop Contest, Rapunzel's Face Painting, scavenger hunt, cake walk, ring toss, Disney Trivia, Toy Story Mania-esque target games, maybe a Villains Haunted House, etc. You could charge maybe $5 per kid, and have a concession stand as well.

The college stuff is interesting, particularly the DCP, if you need more educational approaches (which you might, it's your school), you can talk about Imagineering and other Disney careers, or talk about Disney quotes and the symbolisms in the movies (you might have to look some of this stuff up, but it exists, I have a pin on pinterest where someone brought up the point that gloves are used in Frozen to symbolize different things). Certain movies can be an experience of different cultures, like Mulan for Chinese culture (and you could always go for Chinese as a group after). I know a lot of this sounds like dumb excuses, but if the school calls out the educational purposes, it's nice to have even flimsy ideas to back it up.

Keep in mind that Disney trips can be costly. I don't know where you live, but you could see if there are any Disney musicals playing in your area or are a reasonable distance away. Or you could do a Disney themed dance/formal. For that matter, for Halloween you could do a Disney Character Costume party.

There's other activities you can do too, there's a lot of Disney board/card and mobile games, so you could do tournaments. You could have a day where you find everyone's inner Disney character (you know, a "which character are you most like" kind of thing - just don't force them into a character they don't like, because a huge portion of finding your inner anything is acceptance of that thing) and if you REALLY want to go all out, do this at the beginning and if everyone agrees and there are no repeats, you could call everyone by their character and not by their name.

I put a lot more effort into this than I was going for lol. Hope it helps!
