Went to Disney Store yesterday and picked up a little info on Disney Club. It states $39.95, but doesn't state USF of CDN. I am asuming USF since I think that's the cost on www.disney.com

Should I join this club?

Hi Sandra: Which benefits are you looking for. The 20% discount on resorts may be hard to get depending on the time of year you are planning on going. Do you get annual passes? You may get a better discount with those, and if so, the park hopper discount won't be of any interest to you. We used to always have the Magic Kingdom Club card, but since they changed the plan, we haven't renewed.

Hi SandraC.
I originally purchased the Magic Kingdom Card, but they have now changed it to the Disney Club. They are essentially the same thing. With the membership, we used it for our trip to WDW in 2000. The 10% off ASMo pretty well paid for the cost of the card. We also used it at the Disney Store in WDW and saved 10% on our purchases. It's good for discounts in all Disney Stores (we've used it quite a bit in Toronto) Another thing I really like is the Disney magazine, which comes quarterly. You get it with membership in the club. There used to be a lot of discounts in restaurants in WDW, but they have cut back a lot in the last couple of years. If you are planning a trip to Disney or buy from the Disney Store, it will pay for itself and the magazine is a nice bonus.

I had used the MKC for our trip in '99. They have since changed it to the Disney Club Card. I find that the discounts are mediocre, and if you search other places, e.g. mousesavers.com - Mary Wearing, you can get better. Also, if you have an AMEX card, sometimes you can get better discounts, or the same as the Disney Card. Mine is up for renewal right away, and I have decided not to renew it. I have looked into other possible discounts, and I don't think the exchange is worth it. Also, now you have to renew every year. Before, it was every 2 years.

I've had the card since April '99 and it has MORE than paid for itself.

I just wanted to add that until recently, it used to be that foreign orders had to add $20 US. Now the extra $20 is for outside of US & Canada. :bounce:

I have the DC and have just booked an off season room at 20% off. Even though we are only staying for two nights, right before and immediately after the cruise, it paid for the card in savings. I shopped around the web sites but I couldn't beat the price with the DC card.

You do need to book early. I tried to get an AS but hesitated too long and they were all gone. Interesting note though, I was talking to a CRO and she told me to book the room but call back every few weeks. Apparently Disney releases more rooms at DC discount if the resort is not filling up. I got my room discounted this way 4 years ago and it was a major savings!

You also get a toll free phone number. When I called today they asked me for my DC number before they would help me. If you phone to make priority seatings this could save you a bundle in long distance.

If you live near a Disney Store, this discount can quickly help pay for the card as well. I love to get the items on clearence and then get a discount on top of that. I've got some great birthday presents for my kids to give to friends that way!

For me the card has been well worth it. YMMV.
