this just came from a friend of mine who is a cm

Looks like Disney will NOT be open Saturday however, I still have to work. i'll probably end up there tomorrow night and be there till maybe Monday???

god bless and be safe everyone

Disney has not made that decision yet. It is allowing cast members to go home early on Friday.

I just got off the phone with a friend who works at the YC. He, his wife, and their two kids are to report to the YC convention center by noon tomorrow. He's basically "on call" there until late Sunday, and expects to be working assisting guests pretty much non-stop. WDW is using their convention centers as shelters for the families of many CM's who are required to work during the storm, so they can have their families close by and know they are safe. Very good thinking IMHO.

Also, the Altamonte Springs Mall closed at noon today and will not reopen until Monday. (His wife manages a store in the mall)

I spoke to another friend in Clermont, there's no gas to be found, and no bread. When I asked what she needed, she said bread and prayers.

We're out of here asap to get there before it really hits, we have plywood to board the windows, as well as a ton of supplies to give to those who need them. DH is ready to kill me (just kind of) because we off-loaded bunches of stuff that was already packed to make room for supplies. He's at Home Depot here right now buying more plastic taeps, duct tape, work gloves, batteries, etc. to take, so we can at least try to help others in need. I'm off to the market to buy bread and other non-perishables.

How refreshing to see someone who is willing to go out of their way to help out! Hopefully others who can, will..

Stay safe - and God bless!;)

ducklite: Stay safe and hope your new home doesn't suffer too much damage. How are you going down? Haven't they turned all lanes on I-95 to north bound lanes?

No they haven't made any of the roads one way at this point. The roads are crowded but they are moving.

We're taking I-95. Keeping options open. Thinking that by the time we get to J'Ville we'll cut over on 10 and south on I-75. Being very flexible at this point. Thanks for the good wishes all.

Anne

I just read on the Orlando Sentinal that they are closing Seaworld tomorrow at 3PM and it would be closed on Saturday.

We're on I-95 in Lumberton, NC. We'll be wishing you well as you pass through.

Im just passing along what she told me and I dont think she would be lying about something like this. she is a cm too at a resort and its scheduled to work on saturday. she most likely will go in tomorrow as well as her children. her father works in the underground at disney and will be watching her kids for her while she works. - I seriously doubt that the magic kingdom and surrounding theme parks will be open on saturday and possibly sunday-this is going to be one long weekend for us here in fla and not something to be reckoned with. There is hardly any gas here in west palm beach, no ice and supplies are scarce. Mobil is trying to get trucks down here to fill the gas pumps. People are in full gear to batten down the hatches and prepare. The roads- 1-75, 1-95 and the fla turnpike are congested also. our last flight out of wpb will be around noon tomorrow provided the winds do not go over 50 mph. I am called to duty in the er by 2pm tomorrow and will be there until the storm is over and we can get home.

know that we're all thinking of you..

Prayers and pixie dust:hug:

:sunny:

I will be praying that everyone in Frances' path stays safe.

Yesterday the disaster workers were begging for peanut butter, jelly, tuna, and , darn, something else I can't remember- maybe pet food.

Ann (ducklite) you are a very caring person.....glad you are helping just don't be a hero..stay safe

No hero here. If it gets dangerous to keep going we will stop or divert towards Atlanta and come down I-75. I'd rather get there after with a truck of supplies than not at all.

Anne

Godspeed Anne. It's nice of you to think of others at a time like this.

Hi:

Stay safe ducklite and others in florida. Our hearts go out to you from Canada.

Yours,

Deb.

We're stuck at the Beach Club Villas.

We thought ahead and overbooked our stay through to Monday, just in case we got stuck. We were scheduled to go out on Saturday night from Orlando to Hartford, CT, but have rescheduled to Monday.

As of 6 am this morning, there were no rooms available anywhere on Disney property and no flights out Thursday or Friday. Airport closes at Noon tomorrow, so even if we were able to have gotten on a flight on Friday, we wouldnt have made it an have been stuck at the airport.

I would rather ride it out at Disney, so we choose right and scheduled for Monday evening, hoping the airport will be back up and operational by then.

I thought ahead and brought some emergency supplies from home: Radio, candles, flashlights, extra batteries. We hit the grrocery this morning for water, bread, PB & J and other non cookable items just in case. Glad we beat the rush. I cant believe the guests here havent even bought anything at the groceries. The CMS say that they are still stocked and waiting for the mad rush tomorrow.

All we need now is prayer and a good meal tonight while this beautiful breeze lasts tonight.

I'll try to keep everyone updated from my end as well.

Anne--
Have you thought through a distribution plan for your supplies, or do you know where you're going to be handing them out? Looking at the Home Depot mob scenes, you want to be sure you have a safe way to distribute limited supplies in the face of overwhelming demand.
