I just got off the phone with a friend who works at the YC. He, his wife, and their two kids are to report to the YC convention center by noon tomorrow. He's basically "on call" there until late Sunday, and expects to be working assisting guests pretty much non-stop. WDW is using their convention centers as shelters for the families of many CM's who are required to work during the storm, so they can have their families close by and know they are safe. Very good thinking IMHO.
Also, the Altamonte Springs Mall closed at noon today and will not reopen until Monday. (His wife manages a store in the mall)
I spoke to another friend in Clermont, there's no gas to be found, and no bread. When I asked what she needed, she said bread and prayers.
We're out of here asap to get there before it really hits, we have plywood to board the windows, as well as a ton of supplies to give to those who need them. DH is ready to kill me (just kind of) because we off-loaded bunches of stuff that was already packed to make room for supplies. He's at Home Depot here right now buying more plastic taeps, duct tape, work gloves, batteries, etc. to take, so we can at least try to help others in need. I'm off to the market to buy bread and other non-perishables.
