Disney Christmas Tree Ornaments

What you can do is use a ton of the basic glass balls (in one color to make it look more united) and then accent with the Disney ones as you get them.

When you go to Disney, look and see if you see any on sale.

On one trip I bought a 10 or 12 pack of the mini glass Mickey heads for $12. On my Dec. 06 trip I went ahead and bought two more packs. I also got a really big glass castle for $12.

When I was there in August there were several different ornaments for $2.50 each at the Bargain Mart (or whatever it's called.. the $10 and under store). I bought four of those very large Mickey head ornaments at 4 for $10.
I am going down 12/19 and need to buy a real tree and cheap ornaments for my tree. Where is this Bargain Mart? I really want an all Disney tree but cannot bring all of my good ornaments down with me. I appreciate any help with this, any suggestions. Thanks and Happy Holidays, Nanci
:santa:

We bought several of our ornaments at the Character Outlet store in the outlet malls. My DH also has some from when he was little. You could also get some plain ball ornaments and paint some Mickey silouhettes on them, or add some Disney stickers. The Dollar Tree often has Disney stickers. Our tree isn't all Disney, but we do try to get an ornament from each of our vacation destinations. Sometimes I've ended up buying something generic that reminds me of the place and adding the name myself. If you're handy with a paint pen, you can make some really pretty ornaments.

We have enough to do an all Disney tree but instead I do an all Radko tree. I just love some of his ornaments. That tree is a slim 6.5 ft tree I put in the front window. It is pre lit white lights and it turns out great. Family tree is mostly Disney but we have our old favorites also.
I have collected christmas ornaments since I was a kid but the Disney has come later. I just get a few per year.

We picked up two everytime we go and the tree is now overflowing, but make sure the tree is in the base good. Cause when ours fell over one year breaking several it ruined my wife's day until she found disneys personal shopper that found them all and even got them personalized all for a mear $327

decoupage onto wood or plaster ornament blanks. If you can paint you can personalize with something meaningful (date of trip, special occasion celebrated at Vac.)

I also put things into the clear glass ornaments-golf tees from the courses, etc.

For my Little Mermaid area I get the fan coral sprays with paint and Pixie dust.

Get Disney Fabric and make little oval or round shapes filled with padding- the kids or cats can knock at them not hurt them! You can find a zillion Disney fabrics these days.

Everytime I go to WDW, I spend about $100 in the Christmas shop on ornaments. So, that's 4 times so far, and we are nowhere NEAR having a "Disney tree"! All of the ornaments we have from WDW are glass. We always get a different one each year personalized with our name and year (adds about $20 to the cost :sad2:) and then some other cheaper glass sets.

Over the past 2 years, I have gotten most of the Hallmark Disney ornaments on clearance right after Christmas. :thumbsup2

We have a Disney-themed tree...tree skirt & all!

I ask for the Hallmark ornaments I really want for Christmas incase they sell out of certain ones. Then I pick up the others after Christmas when they are 40-75% off.

Will be back at Disney in 10.5 days and planning on looking for more ornaments. Ive been adding more Disney ornaments to our tree for the past few years now. I figure if Im the one decorating it the tree will be decorated in Mickey! I do use red bows as fillers

We have a Disney tree and I know how pricey it can be...we used to get the Grolier ornaments and have ~30 of them (I'm considering signing up for the Scholastic ones-they look like they're the same). Every time we go down to DisneyWorld we pick up a few in DTD-always a glass ball with our names and the year, some colored glass Mickey's and some others I just have to have-usually end up spending $75-100!!!! I got a great deal on the Light Up Tinkerbell tree topper from DisneyShopping.com after last Christmas for $7.50!. I got a Mickey/Minnie treeskirt on ebay for $25!!! (I saw the exact same one at DTD for $70-it had been previously personalized, but the stitching had been removed-I steamed the velvet to get the impression out). On our last trip down I got the monorail train set to put around the bottom of the tree-I'm so excited to put it all up since this will be the first year I get to use the tree topper, skirt and monorail!!!
Try looking on ebay for the Grolier sets-they're really cute, and it's nice having one of each character. Check DisneyShopping.com after Christmas for great deals.

disneyshopping.com have got 25% off all their christmas decorations today,, maybe that will help?

As mentioned many times over, years of collecting helps take the sting out of the total cost of things. We've always had Disney ornaments, but about 10 years ago we realized that with all the spending we'd been doing at the Christmas shops in Disney, we had more than enough to do a Disney only tree. At this point, we could easily do two whole trees with nothing but Disney.

The individual ormanents are the most costly, obviously. Not cheap, but a cheaper way to fill a tree is to look for the packages of similar/same ornaments. So the Mickey head versions of the traditional glass ball, we've picked up the drawstring bags full of balls with different scenes on them. . things like that. The cost per ornament would break down to less than buying them individually so it helps you stretch a bit until your collection of individual ornaments builds up.

Your best bet would be to shop the after Christmas sales and build your collection for next year. Most stores that carry decorations will carry Disney ornaments, so if you can hit the clearance sales and stock up you'll be able to stretch your dollar even further. The Disney Store usually start marking things down fairly early - we usually end up picking a few new ones up at half off before Christmas. I rarely order online, but I've noticed some really fantastic deals in the outlet section around the holidays and at random points through the year.

The closer you wait til Christmas, the more sales you'll find. When everyone's shopping mode changes to desperate search for gifts and their houses are as decorates as they're gonna get so the decoration aisle is no longer on their radar - you'll see the prices start falling.

A couple have mentioned Hallmark. I used to work at one in college and when they had their middle of the year clearance at 75% off, I got first dibs (since I was the one putting them out, LOL) and picked up dozens of Disney ornaments for next to nothing. So watch for the sale and try and hover around the store when things are going to be put out because the best ones go quick. I had a few people standing over me as I was putting things out - some of the styles were "sold out" before they even made it to the shelf.

That $10 store is also good for having a few different styles on clearance. We too picked up some that were 4 for $10. I saw someone post, asking where it is. . . it's in Downtown Disney, next to Pooh Corner near Goofy's Candy Company and across (and a little over) from the Christmas Store.

You should check out the Craft board.

Someone in there used styrofoam balls to make Mickey heads and then spraypainted them. She made an entire tree (plus topper) with these and it looked GREAT! At the very least, it would get you started until you could build up your collection of the more 'permanent' ornaments!

My sister used all the kid's Disney happy meal toys for her Disney tree. She hot glued loops on them for the hangers and it lloked great. It wasmore "fun" than "fancy", but that works great if you have kids or pets (none of them are breakable!!)
