Disney Christmas Survival Guide

Found some pictures from past Xmas Vacations..

New Year's Eve Day at EPCOT

Magic Kingdom Christmas Night

Hollywood Studios ~December 28th

Late-night EMH at Magic Kingdom. All is calm..

I've printed it, and even though we leave tonight, so we're not Christmas visitors, I'm looking forward to reading it on the plane. I'm sure I'll glean some helpful tidbits! Always looking for stuff I didn't know!
Thanks!!

Hey all!

As many of you may know, last year I started a thread on the Trip Planning forum for Disney during Christmas. It included strategies, planning tips, etc.

As some of you may know, I planned on writing a book this year. Well, while it may be later than planned, I have finished!

I'm offering it free of charge - no strings attached. I wanted to share my love for Disney and the excitement of Christmas in Disney with everyone! It's available for download at survivedisxmas.com!

I'm really excited about this. I hope this doesn't get deleted or come off as self promotion. Again, I'm NOT selling anything - just offering a free book that I wrote out of the kindness of my heart. I hope anyone going this year or planning on going one year will give it a read!!

Good job on the guide! There is one thing I think needs pointing out. In the section describing Magic Bands, the following is stated:

"The bracelet stores guest information, including park tickets, FastPass+ reservations and Memory Maker photo package details. It also serves as your room key and can be linked with a credit card for purchases. By providing information, such as one’s birth date and other personal information, guests can make their visit even more interactive. Imagine Mickey wishing you a happy birthday! The bracelet will replace paper tickets and cards, allowing guests to travel lighter. You could potentially carry your MagicBand and an ID, and leave your wallet behind. "

This is not correct, and can cause some visitors genuine concern that losing the band can result in the theft of all that information. The bands do not store any of the listed information, They simply store a unique code that lets Disney's computer systems look up that information only when/where it is needed.

Thanks for sharing.

I've already passed this on to two, other families. It's a great tool. I especially like how current all the info is.

Thank you so much! I'm on my way down now. I'm going to try to read some of it before I go tomorrow, lol!

I have to say, you are AWESOME to share this with no strings attached. My first trip to Disney (22-27Dec) has only been 3 decades in the planning. I am worried about crowds but am so thrilled to have found your e-guide. It's been such a thrill to book ADRs, FP+ and learn what all these acronyms mean. Will read your guide first chance I get or on my long drive down to WDW. :-)

Thanks again!!!:worship:

Thank you for sharing this. I'm not going during Christmas, but last week I was with someone who is going during Christmas. They said, "Do you think it will be crowded on Christmas Day?" and "I can't imagine trying to reserve a fast pass; we just aren't that organized to get there at a certain time." I fear they may be disappointed with Disney.

I have learned to help people when they ask - and that I tend to scare a lot of people with my knowledge and planning levels. Not that I am an expert - just that I am continually reminded of how little people know. Expect them to be disappointed.

To re-gear - love this book. Helpful - and nice to see something outside of the traditional frame of reference. Great work. I am leaving in under two weeks - and will re-read your book again next week.

Yeah, that was kind of the point of my book. I wrote this for three reasons:

- To help people plan their Xmas vacation... obviously. I felt like I had some insights to share - I've been there 4x in the past 5 years. I've made enough mistakes and learned from them.

- To explain to people that are afraid that it's "not that bad." So many people read the blogs and forums and are scared off. It's crowded, yes, but it's not REALLY bad if you have a plan and stick to it.

- To explain to people that aren't prepared that "it is that bad." Kind of contradicting my last point - but I think so many people use this as their first trip. Well, they're in for quite the shock.

I remember e-mailing with a pretty popular podcaster who HATES the idea of planning out your day. He always says it's best to "just go and take it step by step." Even he saw my point of view..

Excited to say that my guide has reached OVER 1,000 downloads!

HUGE thanks to everyone here on Disboards! I did not think it was possible. Thank you for the downloads, nice comments and recommendations! I hope everyone has a great Christmas!

Thanks for this. We won't be there Christmas day, but we're arriving on the 27th so we'll still be dealing with the crowds. We planned a day to visit the resorts to see the decorations, so I appreciated that section.
