I have heard discussions about favorite Disney chefs, about how a resturants food quallity if affected when a chef moves from one resturant to another. So my question??? Who are your favorite chefs, and how do you keep track of them? How do you find out who is the chef at a particular resturant?

My two favs are the chef at Crystal Palace and the chef at Le Cellier :goodvibes

I know because my brother has a severe tree nut allergy (deathly actually) and at all the restaurants the chefs come to our table and tell us what he can and cannot eat.

The only Disney chef whose career I've really followed is Brian Piasecki, formerly of Coral Reef, Le Cellier and (briefly) Jiko and current chef de cuisine of the California Grill.

As for keeping track of them. Disney will usually make a statement when their long-term employees move between departments. It's pretty common for them to announce when a chef moves from one position to another.

My favorite Disney Chef is Scott Hunnel, Chef de Cuisine at Victoria and Albert's.

I agree. Brian has been very well known for getting less popular restaurants back on their feet (and beyond). I am thrilled about having the top chef at the top restaurant, a position he well deserves..but I would love for him to get back into a few of the WS spots which have gone downhill....ie..Italy. (Though now that I think if it, the places Im thinking about are not Disney Owned, but leased.)

That's true..the Italy restaurant is not Disney owned.

My favorite was Chef Annette at Jiko. After she left and Brian took over he became my favorite and continues now that he's a Cali Grill.

Where do you find this list? Disney website.
Who's the chef at Jiko Now?
We had a very good dining experiance(good food, good service)
at Tutto Italia last trip--
why is it not liked by most?

Chef Eddy at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. We'ave met him for three trips and he always takes great care of my multiple food allergic son. He made him his very first milkshake.

They recently named another new chef at Jiko, Dennis Thompson. He was at California Grill with Brian.

This is fascinating to me. I have never followed any particular chef, but I do have a desire to do so. When the chef changes, sometimes I have noticed that so does the quality of the food.

For instance, from 2003 to 2006, Kona Cafe was a favorite of mine. I think I read on here that the chef changed, and then in 2008, I did not like my meal there. I cannot remember which restaurant the chef from Kona Cafe moved to, but I do remember that I started reading rave reviews about that restaurant after he got there.

This same sort of situation happened at Brown Derby, too. I would love a sticky thread where we would keep track of the chefs. I do have a few favorite restaurants, and I feel loyal to their chefs (even if I do not know their names ). I would be willing to try any restaurants that those chefs moved to and would love a way to keep track so that I could do so!

If you're vegetarian or vegan you will love Chef TJ, currently at Ohana, formerly of Boma. (I'm neither and his vegan creations rock)

Chef Al at Artist Point was my favorite but I recently heard that he has moved since my last trip in April to Akerhaus. I was really disappointed because I have no desire to eat there. I specifically booked another trip to Artist Point in August due to Chef Al. I hope I'm not disappointed.

The name escapes me at the moment, but my vote goes to the sushi chef at the California Grill

Chef Ken at the Plaza (underrated restaurant!) Been there for 30+ years, very friendly & loves to tell stories! He's retiring this year & will certainly be missed by ou r family!

Thanks to everyone who responded, I love the idea of a sticky thread that tracks chef's movements. I have a list now, it will be fun to try out the different chefs now that I know some names. My son has recently introduced me to sushi so am really looking forward to trying Chef Yoshi's creations.

:thumbsup2

Yay! Great to hear...I just spoke to him yesterday about a GF/DF cake for our upcoming trip - seems like a great and very dedicated chef!
