Disney/Chase Visa Questions

I might add that the rewards redemption card can be replaced by Chase if lost or stolen. If you use it to purchase a gift card and lose that gift card, you are out of luck...and money.:sad2:

True. But the way I did it works well for me and it was worth suggesting - I'm not saying it's necessary or mandatory. It's just another option. For me, getting the gift card is one less thing to worry about and I don't have to think about expiration dates or replacing cards. I have never lost any card or had anything like that stolen - I am pretty careful. What I might do is put something aside and not need it for a while or forget about it for a while - suddenly remembering it after it has expired!

As far as I know, I couldn't get the Redemption Card replaced by Chase if lost or stolen because my rewards program is ending.

You have the Disney Visa reward dollars put on a redemption card & then you use that redemption card to pay for stuff like it was a gift card. You don't need to actually get a disney gift card.

What a giftcard does for you is it makes the money non-expiring. The redemption card has an expiration date, and if you do not use the money by then it's gone. A giftcard does NOT expire, so if you aren't going to be using all the money by the date on the redemption card, it behooves you to buy a giftcard.

The Disney Visa stroller discount used to be free strollers in DL! I guess that has changed.

It changed right around the time that they started offering the Debit card (almost 2 years ago).

I would have felt like an fool handing over my Rewards card thinking I could pay that way.

It's already been stated, but just to be sure...what Sherry said in her reply was "You can either use the Redemption/Rewards card itself"... So you certainly can just use the redemption card!

Do the DLR stroller have storage or cup holders?

No cup holders, but storage underneath. not that you'll want to leave ANYTHING in your stroller, as there are thieves everywhere! We've had things stolen...not fun!

So OP, you can just get the redemption card AT the parks. There's simply NO need to get it ahead of time.

Pick up a Disney Rewards Redemption Card at these Guest Relations locations (present photo ID and your Disney Rewards® Visa® Card):

Disneyland® Resort

• Disney's California Adventure® Park Guest Relations Lobby
• Disney's California Adventure® Park Guest Relations at the entrance to the Park
• Disneyland® Park Guest Relations at City Hall
• Disneyland® Park Guest Relations at the entrance to the Park

From the T&C for the credit card:

You must accumulate at least twenty (20) Disney Dream Reward Dollars in your Program Rewards Balance in order to request a Disney Rewards Card to redeem your Disney Dream Reward Dollars. You must transfer at least twenty (20) Disney Dream Reward Dollars from your Program Rewards Balance the first time you request a Disney Rewards Card (or, if you are requesting transfer of Disney Dream Reward Dollars from your Program Rewards Balance to (i) a previously issued Disney Rewards Card, or (ii) any additional Disney Rewards Cards beyond the first Disney Rewards Card you have received and activated, all such transfers must be in increments of at least ten (10) or more Disney Dream Reward Dollars).

As for the debit card, they let us know in the most annoying ways possible. And until the official info came out each rep seemed to give different info. The info on their site is:

After July 12, 2011, when you make purchases with your Disney Rewards Debit Card, you will no longer earn Disney Dream Reward Dollars.1 To redeem your earned Disney Dream Reward Dollars, you must transfer them to a Disney RewardsSM Redemption Card by October 31, 2011. Once your Disney Dream Reward Dollars are transferred to a Disney Rewards Redemption card, you can use them until the expiration date printed on the front of the card.

And yes it is a little different with the debit...the same $20 initially, but then $5 increments when you already have a card.

Where did you find an offer for a $200 gift card? I was going to apply for the card through the disneyland website, but they're only offering a $40 statement credit.

My wife got a $150 gift card when she applied for a Disney Visa through a mailer she received. She barely had the card for a month when we got another Disney Visa card application, but with a $200 gift card promotion. We gave this one to my mother (who is going with us on our upcoming 1st DLR vacation) so we now have a total of $350 in gift cards. Check with the Chase Disney website directly to see if they have this promotion, bypass going through the DL website.

With the CC you can get a redemption card at Guest Relations at the parks and have it activated immediately over the phone. Dunno if you can do it with the debit, but it was super convenient.

I got the same notice for my debit card. I think that different people may have gotten slightly different deadlines, but in my notice it said that my card will stop earning points on July 12 (or any transaction that posts on or by July 15, as long as it is initiated by July 12), and that beyond that point I have until October 31 to redeem my Dream Reward Dollars and transfer them to a redemption card. So for me, any purchases made beyond July 12 are no longer eligible to earn any reward dollars, but I have until 10/31 to claim what I earned.

Also, after October 31 (for my card) there will be no more discounts at the Disney theme parks on food or merchandise, no more discounts on things like tickets (for the Halloween party) or any other perks of the card. Basically, they are cancelling the whole points/perks program for the debit cards only - and Chase is cancelling its rewards/points programs for all of its debit cards, not just the Disney Visa ones.

But as the PP's stated, it's only the debit that is affected. The Disney Chase Visa credit card will stay the same.

I can confirm that this is all correct. I called this week to verify. Its only the Chase Disney DEBIT card. No more points earned after July 12th, have to redeem points BEFORE Oct. 31st. No more rewards in the park after Oct. 31st.

I'm SO bummed they're not doing points anymore! We've had ours for a few years, and I had never checked our points. Well, after I got that statement in the mail I looked it up and we had $450!!! :woohoo: So that is how we are going to be able to swing Disneyland this year after all, even though we are already doing two out-of-state "vacations" to visit family. I was thrilled!!!

Now I just have to fix my DH's credit so we can qualify for the Disney CREDIT card!!! :rolleyes1

Get those dollars onto a redemption card inside the deadline! I have nowhere near as many as you, but as soon as July 15 hits I'm calling in and getting them onto my card.

Really? For the credit card you get a free 5 x 7 every time at the DCA Meet & Greet? I thought it was only one time.

Yes, you can get one every day, and you don't have to get the photo from the meet and greet as your free photo. You just have to go to the photo place in DCA to choose your free photo with your voucher each day, you can't do it at the DL one. This was a huge benefit last summer, we did it every day! They even took our voucher a day late when we didn't make it back one day to order the photo.
