i just read that Walt Disney World will apparently be charging $5 for deliveries to resorts. Does this mean guests staying on property willnow be charged if they want to send purchases back to resort? Or does this refer to something different?

Anyone else hear of this???

They're not talking about sending purchases back to your room from the parks. They won't charge for that because they want to encourage you to buy things.

They're talking about deliveries to the resorts from outside companies.

That would definitely make more sense.

This came up about 6 months ago or so. I don't think they ever implemented it at that time.
Last time, they were going to charge for local grocery deliveries or groceries from Amazon. Sounds like they may have thought it through more this time.
Items that you purchase at WDW and send back to your room were not going to have a charge added.
It will be interesting to see if they carry through this time.

It looks like this will only be the case if they have to accept the package for you. If you pick it up yourself, such as waiting when they call before arrival, then you are good to go.

They have been charging a $5.00 fee for packages processed through the Front Deck for quite a while.

They are now extending it to deliveries made through Bell Services as well.

This essentially replaces the tip I would give anyway in my mind, so no real loss there to me.

One trip a couple had an entire bell services cart stacked with boxes. Assume about 20 since their bill was $100+. They were going nuts they had to pay for it ............. but several people had to handle all these boxes for you ............. I don't blame Disney.

It’s like the pizza delivery fee that the drivers never see any of. I do see this impacting bell services tips, a lot of people will think the fee takes care of part of the tip.

As a former pizza delivery guy, I would be pretty ticked if they didn't include that in my pay. What it was used for at my place was in the case that someone stiffed me on my tip, they would pull from that account to make up for it.
I would assume something similar would be happening with bell services in this situation. At least $3 of the $5 would have to make its way to them or else some serious grumbling would go on.

I don’t believe your pizza delivery experience equals Disney Bell Services deliveries. As we have stated it seems Disney is rightly covering their overhead here. I believe you should still tip the Bell Services staff who bring your order to your room

I agree. Bringing to your room is separate from receiving packages though. I don't think it makes sense to both pay a fee and then tip $5 extra just to have them receive the package. I also think at least 60% of that money should go to those in charge of caring for it. Bringing it up to the room is a separate service.
I personally just receive stuff from Amazon prime now myself and either haul it myself or tip bell services if I need their help bringing it to the room.

Need a clarification here - we always order from a grocer for our stay.

Is it $5.00 per delivery? Or $5.00 per bag?' So if my grocery delivery has 5-6 bags, plus 3 cases of water - is it per item? If so - I may re-examine using the grocer & let Disney stock the refrigerator......

From what I understand Garden Grocer and We Go Shop orders will incur a flat $5 charge. Ordering something from Amazon or having boxes sent will cause a $5 per box charge.

I received an Amazon Prime Now delivery at Pop on Jan 26. Three paper bags and one case of water. A $5 delivery fee showed up on my hotel bill. So, the answer is a flat $5 fee per delivery for grocery.

We used Safeway this week at Polynesian. Two bags, with refrigerated items, and 2 cases of water. No fee. They brought it to our room with our luggage and we gave him a nice tip. It was great.
