disney characters in animation building ??

hey so i have some questions that i hope you can explain to me about the characters meeting inside the animation building from 4:45-5:45.
what are the most common characters ?
im going in march and heard it's a bad time for characters, is it ?
do they only come out on nights with no fantasmic?
if fantasmic is at 8:00 will they come out ?
will these characters be there ?
tweedles
jafar
queen of hearts
snow white
prince john
sheriff
snow queen
pinocchio
friar tuck

I saw all sorts of characters. There must have been at least 7-8 at one time standing around. None on your list.

The only character we've seen almost every time there has been Mickey. We've also seen Goofy there, Honest John, Jafar, Chip N Dale, The Incredibles, Frozone, and the characters from Up were there last summer.

It's a great place to meet characters, but check the times guide once you enter the park, that might give you an idea of some of the characters that will be there.

last week when we were there it was a Fantasmic night and the characters were still there. There was Sorceror Mickey, the Up Characters, The Incredibles. Also earlier in the day Tigger and Pooh, Daisy and Donald and Chip n' Dale were around the Hat.

We did see Pinnochio outside of Exposition Hall in Magic Kingdom.

Here is a rundown of the characters we saw and where we saw them:

How does one get inside the animation courtyard to see these characters? When we went last year, we had to sit through the show about how they animate the characters before we could get inside. Is there anyway to bypass that show and just see the characters?

Someone said recently here on the DIS that they don't allow you to enter that way anymore. Have you been recently and were able to do so? We've done the show a couple of times, but we love to head in through there for characters and the class. This would be good news!

This was in the fall on a non-F! night, but recent DIS reports that they are now out on F! nights, too.

In October we went through the shop to get in. It was about 5 pm. I had no idea there would be extra characters that weren't on the times guide. All of a sudden out came Genie, Mary Poppins and penguin, Captain Hook, Evil Queen and Pluto. Great photo op!

I can't speak for Amy, but Snow Prince hooked it up for me! The two met me between the shows for a quick private meet and greet before getting ready for the next show.

We went on a non Fantasmic night right around 5 and saw

Pocahontas with Meeko
Chip & Dale alternated wtih Pluto & Minnie
Snow White alternated with The Queen

I know there were others we didn't see-maybe Stitch but can't remember. I do know that there were NOT any Robin Hood characters and Max also wasn't out as we had been looking for those all trip long.

We were there the first week of February on a non-F! night and some extra characters came out around 4:45 pm. We saw:

Evil Queen (from Snow White)
Geppetto
Aladdin
Pooh
Minnie
Mary Poppins w/ two penguin friends

There would have been a second wave but we moved on because my daughter was starting to tire of the character greeting lines and we wanted to catch the Ariel show near there.

You can go into the animation building and bypass the attraction (I'd recommend seeing it once, though, unless you're in a hurry) by going to the right instead of the left to queue in front of the theater part. If you go to the right and keep following that path, you go in about where you exit the theater if you see the attraction first. The CM outside has directed us to the right path both times we've asked them on the way in where we should go to go directly to the greeting area.

We saw the Queen of Hearts (on your original list) by the Mad Hatter's Mad Tea Party in the MK, and she was with the White Rabbit. The Queen was hysterical. She kept trying to get the kids to bow to her before she'd sign their books and I prepared my daughter for it while we were in the line once I saw what she was doing. My daughter went right up and bowed right away (before she forgot to do it!) and the QoH clapped for her and seemed very excited. It was a really nice character interaction.

That seems weird cause I was just there and we went into the back at least two or three times, we were checking to see when Dug was gonna be out for Up, and got our picture taken with Sorcerer mickey.

I'm surprised to see that there are all these characters that appear in the animation courtyard at one point. Wish I would of known this when I was there.

Well...ok here's the long version....we DID go in through the giftshop just before 10am and were the first ones in line to see Sorcerer Mickey. Then we waited to see Dug-I think he was out at 10:30 and then we saw the Incredibles and did the animation drawing class. At one point I stepped out to go the bathroom and tried to get back in through the gift shop but there was CM standing guard who told me I couldn't get in that way.
