Has anyone ever been to the Disney Character Warehouse? We were wondering if it was worth going to shop there. We heard there was a lot of discounted merchandise and the deals were great, but is it worth taking so much time out of our trip? (We won't have a car, so we'll have to take a bus. But we're staying at the Fairfield, and we heard it was close by?)

It can be fantastic! And it can be - eh, not so much - ! It just depends on what's in stock at the time. They are constantly getting new things so the inventory changes quite frequently. I don't know how many days you have and where shopping for discounted Disney stuff lines up in your priorities so I can't answer the "worth it" question, but hopefully the above helps.

It can be hit and miss! Found some great deals one time and another it was a
waste of time,I guess it's worth checking out.

As of late, it has been a lot more miss than hit for us. The problem is that Disney seems to have changed how they handle discontinued items, it appears that they now do things in the following order:
Discount the merchandise in the park
Send it to company D (cast member only discount store)
Send it to their own outlet stores (no where near Disneyland)
Send whatever is left over to places like Character Warehouse

Sometimes the first two steps happen at the same time from what some cast member friends tell me though.

This new procedure really seems to reduce what Character Warehouse has been getting lately.

Didn't know this existed. Can someone post where this is located at?

The address is:

243 Orangefair Mall
Fullerton

From the DLR resort area it's a straight shot up Harbor Blvd, just past the 91

I've found nice buys there in the past, but I'm thinking what cmwade posted helps explain my last several visits - disappointing at best.

I'm pretty sure there were more junky generic t shirts than anything park related last time I stopped in. Although to be fair there were some really nice Disneyland sweat shirts... dated 2009.

JMHO - if you have limited time in the area I'd spend it elsewhere.

I've found some great bargains there in the past, but not so much recently. We used to stop in for good deals on pins to trade in the parks, but haven't found those in a long while either. I would rather spend my time having fun in the parks, especially if you don't have a car to make if a quick trip.

For us the last several times have been a miss.. Here is a email I got from them today that you might want to look at:

We have valued your business at our Pomona store and truly considered a privilege to have been able to serve you over the years. Unfortunately due to the overall economic situation, we will be closing the Pomona location and the last day it will be open is Sunday, July 15, 2012.

You can take the OCTA #43, for $1.50 each way. It stops in front of the Best Western Park Place that is almost at the Cross Walk into DLR. On return it stops nearly across the street from this spot.

The Orangethorpe stop is just north of the Harbor and Orangethorpe intersection. It's right by and In and Out. The store is in the shopping center on to the South side of the intersection.

Does anyone know how late it's open in mid September?

Has anyone ever been to the Disney Character Warehouse? We were wondering if it was worth going to shop there.

I would say go. It's now callled Character Depot. My family has been going to this store for about 6 years now. Whenever we are going to Disneyland we try to make a stop here first. In years past, all the product was overstock from the park and there were some really good deals(but typically on stuff that wasn't that great, hence it being overstock) We just visited about 2 weeks ago. First of all they moved a couple stores down from the old location in the shopping center and gave the store a facelift too. The store has much better looking items now. I bought one shirt for $16 for me and later saw the same shirt in the park for about $28. We picked up some light up parade toys for about half the park price and some generic trading pins too. I mainly noticed that they have a lot more collectibles like Precious Moments, Jim Shore, Gallery of Light, and a bunch of snowglobes.

Overall, the deals may not be as good as the old days, but the items are tons better. My sons were happier too, since they now carry a lot of comic book character items now. Hope this helps.

I just went tonight and I can say that without a shadow of a doubt, it is not worth the time, even if you are a local. The prices are close to what you can get in the parks and if you have an AP may even be a little higher.

+1

Those trading pins they have are the Jerry Leigh ones that you can get at Target/Walmart (typically in Florida). Sometimes the pins are MARKED up from the original price!

Same here - went today for the first time since the move. Prices are definitely higher, less merchandise to see. Better organized - less hunting for shirts/sizes but I was pretty disappointed. Lots of tees for between $14-18. Thought $8 for pins was outrageous.

An email said they now give AP discounts.

Oh - and the items they had on the website were pretty much what was in the store.
