Well just had me to the list. I came home from a picnic to a message that my disney card (which hasn't been used in the last year and has never even been used at Disney) was actually used at a Taco Bell in CALIFORNIA. I live in Ohio.

the very kind lady in the fraud dept. says. . .we did decline the transaction. would you like a new card? DUH!?!?!

what a day.

I don't know what the problem is with Chase... They do the Southwest card too, and my brother and sis in law's cards have been messed with THREE times inside of 2 years. With the last one, they hadn't even USED the cards yet. They'd *just* been activated. And then suddenly there was a flurry of purchases across the country from them (the cards). Let me restate, they hadn't used the cards yet. I'm sure that someday Chase is going to find a whole bunch of employees engaged in criminal acts....

Glad they caught it.............

A few years ago we got a call here in Georgia asking if we had just purchased an airline ticket to go from Canada to some other location. We said no.

That was quite a surprise!

Several years ago I got a call because there were fraudlent charges attempted on our Disney Visa - a merchant in Turkey and Czech Airlines.

I had my card used to buy something in Israel. The fraud department caught it and called me. I did not have to pay for what they had purchased.

I have not had any other fraudulent activity on my card, but that one time I did, they caught it right away and it was nothing more than a minor nuisance.

They did issue me a card with a new number; I had to make sure I updated any auto-payments I had set up. I also had to sign a form they sent me and mail it back, verifying that the purchase made was not mine. Nothing terribly inconvenient.

For my brother, everything is set up automatically. Doing that process 3 times has been extremely inconvenient, especially since he's been charged by some of the companies...he would have an autopay that was too late to cancel, it would not go through, and they'd charge him. I'm sure he ultimately got the charges credited, but it was not fun for him to deal with the companies...3 times in 2 years.

My husbands card was used 3 times on Thursday. Chase called in the afternoon to confirm a 10.00 phone internet charge. Glad they caught it early.

Chase isn't the only one. We've had the same issue with Wells Fargo.

At least the CC companies realize it's a problem and have fraud depts that try to stay on top of it. We monitor our cards carefully, but twice now WF has caught the charges before we have.

My sister just had her number stolen on her Debit card last week. But she was able to find out EXACTLY who did it. She had gone to the CVS drive thru for a prescription and paid with her debit card. She remembered thinking it was odd that the cashier at the window walked away from the window to swipe her card. She just assumed the swiper at the window wasn't working. The next day she was checking her account online and saw an additional $28+ charge on her bank account. She called the bank to inquire. Immediately the bank told her that the additional purchase had been keyed in, rather than swiped. She filed a fraud report. Later she called the CVS manager. She was the THIRD call of the day, all reporting the same thing. This cashier was copying card numbers, then keying them in to make purchases in the CVS. Luckily, it was only $28. Since it was a debit card, she will not be credited back her money until the issue is resolved (paperwork).
