Disney Car Hire

Hi all
My DW and I have been to Florida twice now and have stayed offsite in a villa then a hotel and got the fly drive option. However next time we go (2-3years time) we are thinking about staying on site at WDW and using the Disney Express coach but would still like to get a car for a few days to do universal and the outlets/mall. Is it possible to hire cars from WDW directly and does anyone know a rough cost of it for a midsize (Ford Focus) kind of vehicle.

You can pick up a car at the Disney Car Care Center just outside TTC/MK

you can arrange for a free shuttle to pick you up at your disney hotel (ask your concierge 24hrs prior)

select USA and in location type choose "city", then "orlando disney car care" (that's one location on property)

you can pick up at Disney Car Care and drop off at MCO without additional charges (just choose the correct location when booking)

You can pick up at the Car Care Centre but you are then tied to Alamo.
It is probably the most convenient but other companies could be cheaper.
A guide would be around £100/wk, personally I prefer something a little larger, full size or a SUV, usually only about £20/wk more than a midsize(intermediate) car.
Prices vary depending on time of year (Xmas/Easter etc can be expensive if booked at wrong time) also varies when you book, try book when there is an offer on.
Best thing to do is when you have booked your flights post again with best price you can find and then we can help try find you a better deal.

Don't forget you can collect a car from Dolphin too. Seems to be a joint National and Alamo, for my trip it's not much more (£20) for the week than picking up from Dollar @ MCO.

First time I rented a car at WDW I did so at the Dolphin, unfortunately I didn't know that branch closes early afternoon (at 4pm, I think). I went after lunch at Epcot and found the desk closed. Fortunately I could go and pick the car at the CCC: they sent a shuttle to pick me up at the Dolphin.
So if you plan to rent from the Dolphin double check when they close.

Same at Car care centre Claire, both times we have collected there we have been given a lot number, no choice.
In August there was a couple in front of us, the lady stayed at the desk while the man went out to look at a few cars as he wasn't happy with the allocated car.

When pricing cars on the Alamo site be sure to clear your cookies or in my experience the price never comes down. This applies to i phone searches too.
