Disney car hire centre

I'm planning a trip for next year (not been to WDW for 5 years due to buying a house). We've always flown into Sanford but it looks like it'll be MCO this time.

We were thinking of taking the magical express then booking a car to collect from the Disney car hire centre, but have never done this. Is it easy? How do we get from the hotel to the car hire centre?

On the same subject if we collect the car from MCO how does this compare to Sanford?

it's fairly easy
yiy cab get a cab, or you can arrange with Alamo to send you a free shuttle to pick you up (we're taking disney hotels here since you mentionned DME)

On the same subject if we collect the car from MCO how does this compare to Sanford?

desk will probably be busier but there are check in kiosk you can use if you do online check in (might require booking through a third party)

you get to pick the car of your choosing from the parking lot (one that's in the category you booked)

you can pick up at one location, and drop off at another in Florida, no one way fee. Just make sure you choose the correct agencies when you book

I called the CCC and they sent a shuttle to the hotel.
You can also get a car at the Alamo desk inside the Dolphin. You can get there with Disney transportation. But remember to check opening time, when I went it closed at 4 pm and I was there at 4:05

We've collected from car care centre twice.

They will pick you up from your hotel and drop you at the hotel or a park after you return the car.

Last time we got a cab from MK to car care centre - only a few dollars.

Car care centre has always been a smooth process with no hard sell. Less car choice than MCO.

At MCO make sure you pre register then you can go straight to the garage and collect rather than having to go to the desk in the airport.

We've collected from MCO and Car Care Centre and have found both to be easy. Magical Express is a nice relaxing way to start your holiday after a long flight and as others have said, you get picked up by mini bus from reception and taken directly to Car Care Centre so there's no hassle here either. You may get a little antsy if you're one of the last drop offs but that's all. The only place we've ever had a real wait for a car was one year at Sanford when, having queued in immigration for an hour and a half we then had to queue for longer to get a car at the rental desk. Never had to wait long at all at MCO and there's a good choice of cars. Having said all that, Car Care Centre is the only place we've been subjected to a hard sell and then rudeness when we didn't go with it!
