Disney cancelled wishes FP4 tomorrow?!?

Thanks for sharing your rationale. Having used 8 FPs on a crowd level 8 day with next to no effort, I just couldn't see myself giving up an entire day of FPs for something that could be seen from many places, especially after the reviews I've read on the FP area. Hopefully you all get lucky and it won't be one of the nights they pack people in like sardines. Lol!
Even if they are packed in it won't be as bad as the general viewing areas that night. The Night of a 24 Hour Day is much more crowded than a level 8 Day. Like you, we have no problems with finding a spot on a level 8 day. Plus, I know we can get in to the viewing area because we have a FP. I would not be able to walk up what is basically last minute to the general viewing area and get a spot. I'd have needed to be there much earlier than I plan to get there.

Curious though, what do you consider many of the places to see Wishes? Where the Castle is in the center of your field of view and you can see the castle clear enough to watch the screen projection?
Our usual spot is on the bridge to Tomorrow Land but that is not ideal, just good. Because the castle isn't in the center. And you can't see all sides of the castle so you miss some of the projection.
Also love watching from New FL entrance but obviously you miss everything on the castle back there.
The only ideal spot is on the street in between Casey's and the Ice Cream Parlor and it's a pretty small area all in all. The Wishes FP area is in that same general spot and won't be nearly as crowded as the street will be.

I believe they all have been distributed. The CM I got that escalated it for me tried to book it using the normal methods and it didn't work. It had to be escalated to a different department and they had to issue a special Any Experience FP in order to get the replacement. But they are not available to book any other way.

That brings up the next level of "what if."

Since they have been opening the Wishes FP+ viewing areas up to two hours before the show...
"what if" several dozen "I got an everything FP" guests arrive 60 minutes before Wishes and that, combined with the "we have a real FP+ for Wishes" show up, meaning the areas are FILLED by 45 minutes before Wishes (15 min. before Celebrate the Magic.) What would happen when another 2-4 dozen guests show up after that... all holding FP+ for the now overloaded areas?

I know it wouldn't be a genuine catastrophe, but some would likely escalate that into a substantial problem.

This question is not meant with any snark intended, but why would any of you want to use a FP for Wishes in your initial 3 when the park opens at 6am? Wishes can be seen from sooo many great places. Why would you want to cheat yourself out of extra FPs for the entire day? Again, no snark. Just trying to figure out why so many are taking this touring approach. Anyone care to share their thoughts on this?

We got a wishes FP+ for the 24 hour day. We went last year and enjoyed our strat last year a lot so we're doing it again this year.

If it's like last year, the park was dead until about 11 am. We walked onto many popular rides.

At 11 we have a bog lunch. Then for the rest of the busy afternoon we do indoor, air conditioned stuff to get out of the heat. I.e. cop, tiki birds, hop, philharmagic, monsters inc laugh floor. If we spent the afternoon in the heat I don't think we'd have made it all 24 hours. Our fp+ start around 7. We have mine train, Anna and Elsa then fireworks.

Last year main street was a mess for the fireworks. I've never FP wishes before but I thought it'd help us with that enormous crowd of people. Then we will see which additional FP are left.

Hope that helps!

I don't know. It's a valid question.
The Anytime FP does specify Wishes if you click on the see details. So those that got them for something else, like a ride down for rain or mechanical issues, wouldn't be able to use theirs on Wishes.
If every 1 of those 1000 people call and ask for their Wishes FP back then I guess there will be 1000 more people cramming in there and it will be quite an issue.
I'm just going to assume (yes, I realize that that means) that everyone of those won't attempt to get their FP back.

I tried to rebook immediately after I got the email and Wishes never came into the system,IMO. I am hoping that no one can book unless they went through CM and the area will be very spacious

That would be great if that's the case.
I know in the 24 Hour Day thread a few said they were able to get them back via the app right after getting the email.
I was able to get 1 of our 3 back via the app
So something went back in to the FP system.
Maybe it wasn't all 1000 (hopefully!)

We've always walked up to the Plaza area or in the hub area about 15 minutes prior to the show. With the removal of some of the larger trees, there should be even more areas with great views. I guess my thinking is that showing up 60-120 minutes early with a FP in which there's a chance it could be packed, with the same potentially taller than me people, just seems like a lot of time wasted when it blocks you from getting more throughout the day. No judgement from me though, everyone has their preferences. :)

Oh, I'm not showing up 60 min, much less 120 min early. Trust me. If I was doing that I'd stand in the street.

By the way, part of the Plaza area is now one of the sides of the FP area. So you'll have less spot to get an area, even with the removal of the trees. They increased the FP area on both sides when they did that.

Yes, I know, but thanks for telling me just in case I didn't. :)

No system works 100% of the time. In this day and age, it's a matter of seconds between a problem happening and the whole of the Dis knowing about it. I think that somewhat blows the problems out of proportion. So every few weeks it would seem there's a glitch for someone somewhere in the world. I don't see that as a massive failure.

And I certainly don't see it as yet another reason not to implement MDE and FP+. If they wait for perfection, it will never happen. They seem to take care of them as they should when they happen and it's rare that someone actually suffers any permanent consequences.

I'm sorry, but as Pete pointed out on the podcaf this week, Amazon and FB get a TON more traffic than WDW's site on a daily basis, and you don't see their sites crashing like wdw's does, or the constant glitches coming and going.

I'm not asking for perfection, because yes, sometimes things just fail. These aren't just "oh something odd happened today" events. They are systemic flaws that reappear in consistently similar situations. Disney has a responsibility to its guests to fix those systemic flaws, especially if they are going to continue to be so reliant on the IT.

This, for me, isn't about fp+ or no fp+. They are going wth fp+. Decision made. Now they need to make sure their systems can handle the demand they are placing on it. That isn't an unreasonable request of a.company of Disney's resources.

Amen.

To paraphrase an old saying,
"I may not like FP+, but at least the system doesn't work very well."

Sad for guests.
Sad for Disney CMs.

There is a media event going on right now. I would say it's all about the media but it looks as though they are cancelling multiple days. Maybe they will use that area for media both nights.

:thumbsup2 Very well said.

I did a FP+ reservation for MSEP during the 24-hour party last year and it felt like a good use of one. The park was wall-to-wall people from dinner time through midnight or so, the hub and Main Street were jammed. Having a less-crowded place to view the parade felt like a respite from a crowded evening. If I were going to the party again this year, I would have grabbed a Wishes FP+ reservation for that night. You can enter the viewing area at 8,so you can kick back and enjoy the tops of the MSEP floats as they cruise by before the fireworks.

We've always had a great view from several different areas without having to wait long or shoulder/be shouldered into a good position. Also reserving a fast pass that late in the evening prevents us from getting additional ones during the day.

So I honestly don't see us ever wanting a fast pass for Wishes. I hope those who do want them are able to get them though.

This will be my first time to attend the 24 hour party and I have been wondering about MSEP. I have a FP+ for the first parade. I've read that it is less crowded for the 2nd parade which makes me wonder if I should use my FP+ for something else. Also, everyone is saying that Main Street is so crowded it takes an hour or longer to try to walk from the castle to the flag pole. I believe that is where the MSEP FP viewing area is but please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm worried I will have to fight against the crowd just to use my FP+. What was your experience last year?

The new wrinkle to this (and it is virtually never brought up) is "Celebrate the Magic" which I consider to be a must-see (even more so than the MSEP.)

And, that show requires a clear view of the "front facade" of the castle.
And, that pretty much means the hub.
So, with the Hub now growing in demand, the FP+ area for Wishes will just increase in "value" to mare and more guests.

1. Exaggeration.
It will be crowded, but they keep a path open for walking by.
Also, they have a (two, actually) BACKSTAGE pathways (behind the Main St.shops) that
they can open to guests if it gets really busy and you can bypass the Main Street crowds, entirely.

2. Yes.

Oh! Okay, we haven't seen that yet. Is the bridge between the castle and TomorrowLand not a good spot for that? That's where we usually end up.

In my experience it did take about an hour to traverse from castle to exit last year during the 24 hour party right after the second MSEP.

I did call today and got my Wishes Fp+ restored, so that was good. I guess. Would have rather not had them glitchily canceled in the first place.
