My wife and I purchased dvc a couple of years ago and are in the process of financing our contract. We have fallen on some hard times and might be forced to sell. I read once on this board about disney doing a 1 time buy back from dvc members. Does any one have any information on how this works.

I think you would make more money selling it yourself using a broker such as The Timeshare Store. Disney won't give you very much, if they are even interested

Just wanted to say that I hope that your hard times subside and that things start looking up for you and your wife. :) Good luck in your decision whether or not to sell.

The most I have heard DVC offering was in the mid-$50s, and even then it was only for certain resorts. Others they wouldn't offer to buy at all.

If you are only 2 years into a contract financed over 10, with the low amount they offer you'd probably end up owing DVC money just to settle the contract.

If you have any points available now you could consider renting them. That may put a couple thousand dollars in your pocket. Otherwise list with as many resale brokers as you can and hopefully you'll see an offer.

Good luck.

You may want to consider renting your points. If you have a 150 pt contract and have banked points you could borrow from your next use year and have up to 450 points which you could rent for at least $4,500.

You could always just list it yourself at a price you know will get ROFR'd. You'll find a buyer desperate for a great deal. Draw up the contract and submit it to DVC and let them buy it that way. You'll get far more than the $55 per point or whatever that DVC will offer you.

Better is to list it on Ebay or TUG boards and have a timeshare closing agent help you finish the deal. Buyers expect to pay some closing costs anyway.

Hi - I listed a contract on ebay and it sold within about four days. I'm also going to sell another contract through a broker. If you want info on how to do this and a copy of the contract I used so you can fill in the blanks feel free to message me.

If you sell it, make sure you can cover the realtor's fees as well as any financing left on the contract. Otherwise, you'll owe money at the end.
