I just came back from Disney yesterday and I have never had such horrible bus service. We had to wait 50 mins to get a bus to go downtown and we had to wait forever at the park when it closed. I was just wondering if any one else has experience this. :flower:

Haven"t had that problem But we Don't go in July or August. :Pinkbounc

I was there last weekend, and we did not have any problems at all. Busses ran every 15-20 minutes as promised. There was only one time when the bus was not there within 10 minutes of my arriving at the front of the resort (Pop Century) or the bus queue at the parks and that was due to a situation I feel was out of WDWs control.

It only costs about $7 to take a cab from most places to most places in WDW so if you really feel that you can not deal with a delay in bus service, which may happen from time to time, splurge and take a cab.

Just got back from the Beach Club yesterday and we had great bus service to the MK and Downtown Disney. I was actually quite surprised given some of the negative comments that I had read earlier.

The buses aren't the fastest way of transportation, but the are not too bad. The only problem that I have ever had is with the POR buses.

I agree that the buses are ususally fine when we are in the world. $7.00 for a taxi is really low. We take them often when we go from resort to resort to eat in the evenings. The littlest we've paid we $10.00 AKL to CRS. The most was AKL to POLY - a little over $20.00. Just didn't want someone to get stuck without enough money. We think there are times when a taxi is worth it.

Stayed at POP in March and it felt like we were always WAITING for the POP bus to come and pick us up at the parks. :rolleyes1 When they did arrive the line was sooo long, if you didn't get on that bus you were stuck waiting again for another one to come along. I appreciate the bus service and it is much more afforadable for me than renting a car - but POP buses do seem to have fewer in circulation. We are heading down again in Sept to POP, perhaps it will be better as it should not have the volumes of people that March had! :flower:

We've cabbed from AKL to PI, Pop to PI, AKL to MGM and a few other places I can not recall. We've really only ever had to pay about $7-$10. I guess it depends on traffic and where you are going. WDW only uses one cab co. so the rates should be the same everywhere. :confused3

Worst bus service ever was when we stayed at POFQ back a few years ago. It was in this century tho :)

I can't imagine calling a cab and payin to get to the parks. But then I can't imagine driving to the parks either. I'm very glad some ppl do tho makes more room for those who likes to let disney do all the driving :)

We stayed at Pop several weeks ago and at BCV and POR in late June. I have to say that the worst bus experiences that we had always ended up being the service to and from DTD. Yes, we did have longer than usual waits for the Pop buses but with so many people using it I guess that's what happens, but the DTD bus was awful. We must have waited an hour for our bus to return to Pop. The other resorts had two or three buses coming in the time we waited.
I usually have no issues with the transportation at WDW. This only happened twice, but like I said it was DTD both times. Other than that, we had terrific service from all three resorts.

I don't know what cab co. you had, but we cab regularly around WDW & the average cab fare we paid is about $12. AKL to CR was $20. Dolphin to AKL is $15. Dolphin to WL is about $13. Those are just the fares I recall from last trip in April. We have never had a cab fare under $10 in WDW in the past 7 years. The only time we had a $10 fare was an "unautorized" cab co which took us from CR to AKL & he got busted at AKL's security gate for being an unauthorized company. Like Shelleybaxter said, I'd hate for someone to get stuck without enough money for their cab fare.

The only buses I've ever had a real problem with are the DTD buses. They always seem to run a little slower than the others. Last trip, we had one freak AK to AKL bus that we had to wait for 30 minutes for for some unknown reason. I did notice last trips buses weren't quite as efficient. I chalked that up to Spring Break crowds.

We stayed at pop last year. One moring we waited for 40 mins and no bus for MK. I went inside and asked if everything was ok with the buses. A CM promptly came out and talked to dispatch on a walkie talkie. since there was a huge mass of people they sent two busses at once. While we waited the cast member was great she was telling everyone Disney jokes talking to kids and checking out their pins. Telling people cool stuff about MGM and AK as those buses pulled up. The funny thing when we finally got on our bus the driver was a lady who lived down the street from us many years ago.(It's a small world after all) We had a great time catching up. Talk about Disney magic!!!

I always say you get what you pay for. I have stayed @ both the cheap resort all the way through to the deluxe, and the transportation has improved as you go up the resort ladder. Cheap resorts are further away from the parks therefore making longer trips there and longer trips back. Also, you have to assume that a larger majority of people are staying at value resorts, and more people mean longer lines and longer wait times. If you want to save time, just get in your car and drive it. With your parking pass for the resort, you don't have to pay to park @ the parks. Maybe next time you might consider paying a little more $$ for a moderate resort if you don't want to have for longer bus waits.

I have always been pretty happy with the bus service. I have waited up to 20 mins for a bus, which can be frustrating if you are in a rush, but I always try and allow the extra time. The buses I seem to wait for the longest are the ones to DTD.

Did try to take a taxi one time from WL to GF, but we waited so long one of the bellmen got out the WL minivan and took us there instead..now that's service!!

I agree with you on the aspect of more people at the values. However in my experience the bus transportation is better at the values than most other resorts. The moderates have the problem of multiple bus stops, and all deluxe (except AKL) share buses with other resorts. Also the deluxe resorts are not really closer to the parks. Sure the GF, Contemporary, Poly, and WL are closest to MK but look how far they are away from DS, and AK. Every resort is close to some parks and far from others.

horse feathers! the worst buses we experienced were the GF and BC/Yc as they made stop after stop at resort after resort...we were at pop when it was filled to capacity( at that time a wdw first according to a cm) and didn't have a problem, the buses came every few mins at busy times and we never waitedmore than afew mins except the usual hassel with DTD after dinner at some other resort. it could be (op) a bus broke down ect...those things can happen anywhere

Well there is always an exception. I was just stating that typically that is how it is.

Last year we stayed at the ASMo and had great bus service. Never more than a 10 minute wait. The only problem we had was trying to go from DTD to the Poly for an Ohana ADR. It took us over an hour- 25minutes for the bus then a stop/and wait at the CR and finally to the Poly pirate:

This year we are staying at the Poly!!!! But I am very worried about the buses. We were planning to take a cab from the Poly to the AKL for Boma but if it costs over 40.00 rt then that is way too much!!! Maybe we will just cancel Boma and eat at Kona!

How can we get to the AKL for dinner for less than 40.00rt or not have it take 2hours/rt by bus out of our evening just for transportation??!!

can you go to ak a little before closing and then to akl...that might be quicker than dtd plus you can always see the animals. still have the pain in the neck back...i know a cm told us it's always quicker to go to a park than dtd so if he was right and your adrs are early enough maybe go to from akl tp epcot to mono ( they always seem so much faster but maybe just cause they are more fun)

The problem is that if you ask most on these boards that is not "typically how it is."
