Disney Bus Schedule to Parks

Wow...the boats are very quick as I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes for a boat going to or from portofino bay. Ever. Even during busy times. Never taken a bus but friends who have stayed at cabana bay say they never waited for buses there like you do at Disney. They also don’t pack you in like animals so when you’re sitting down, someone’s butt us in your face. I’ve stayed at many Disney resorts. Buses suck.

It’s great to hear the positive reports about transportation at Universal resorts. Staying at one is in our 2019 travel plan, for many, many reasons, including ease of transport.

I also think in addition to jacking up the price of nearby resorts, the gondola system is part of Disney’s solution to the busses, along with pricey Minnie vans. Too many people for busses to comfortably and efficiently handle on existing roads, and Disney clearly is discouraging you from renting cars (new resort parking fees and continuing to offer ME). I’ll continue to take my rental car and take Uber’s, thank you very much.

Lol, no that fact that I've never waited for a 1 single second for a Universal Bus. Boats maybe take 5 minutes max.

Universal Bus? Never knew they had buses there. We always took the boats....but now every time we go to US/IOA we stay at HRH...we always walk to and from the resort. It's a beautiful short walk.

I understand from lurking/reading on the universal board that HRH is the closest resort to the parks. Maybe like BC/YC/BW to Epcot and HS, there is no bus option for HRH?

Regardless I like that the universal resorts have boats and walking options.

Question re MK, if you are avoiding the busses, which is fewer miles say from the boardwalk lobby, when being dropped off, poly resort lobby or the contemporary resort lobby?

We have stayed at all 3 US/IOA resorts. Once at RPR, and I won a trip to PBR, but every time other than that we stay at HRH. It fits our family dynamic best. We love the pool, and the resort. We actually planned to go back there this year but with Disney offering FREE DINING...the Disney trip was much cheaper.

Thanks for the input in HRH! Great looking resort. The pool looks great and pools matter! I plan on getting an universal annual pass for the first time to take advantages of the resort room rates. We can go whenever since basically semi retired and work when we want. Free dining or club level at Disney has zero appeal to us due to the way we eat, so those have never once tempted us. Anyway I have lived either in New Orleans or within 75 miles for more than 50 years (DH his entire life) so we have access to better restaurants year round. Number one on our list is taking things easy, and strolling from resort to park fits that plan. We finally have the time to take full advantage.

Its actually cheaper to buy the Seasonal AP for US/IOA than a regular 5 day ticket. You can always book HRH way in advance and keep checking the rates. If those rates drop you just call and they modify your reservation. The first year we stayed at RPR Club....really nice resort...PBR IMO....too far from the parks, boats take a long time, and we didn't care for the atmosphere. We absolutely LOVE HRH. We book a Garden View room and every single time we have gone, we got a room upgrade. The resort is fantastic. They do a lot of stuff for families in the evenings by the pool. Games, movies, etc. I really love US/IOA and we love Disney. We come home from Disney needing a nap...we come back from US/IOA rested. You will LOVE the FOTL perk at US/IOA. It is awesome!!!

We stayed last year at HRH and you will love it. My DH was using an ECV so we couldn't use the boats but we walked almost every day. My DD and her friend did take the boat which always seemed to be waiting in the morning when we were leaving. We did take the bus one day to see how it was. We waited maybe 10 mins and the bus arrived. It was completely empty unlike Disney buses. We were the only ones on it but by the time they loaded his ECV drove to the park entrance and unloaded the ECV it took more time than it did with us walking to the entrance. We also didn't have to stop at any other hotels on the way to the park. I definitely would say that the transportation at US/IOA is much better than the bus situation at WDW. You will definitely enjoy HRH and US/IOA. It may be smaller but it is much less waiting for everything.

Thanks! My husband and I are both excited about US/Ioa. I know what you mean about needing a nap after Disney. If we drive we drive to Disney, we are going to follow it up with a few nights at our new beach find to decompress.

Let’s pull this back to talking about Disney resorts, please. It’s fine to compare, but most of the thread is now focused on Universal resorts, rates, tickets and transportation. :)

Busses in Disney are always hit or miss. For our upcoming trip, we are staying at resorts in walking distance so we can limit our need of the bus.

Let me guess, they have elves hand transporting you over? They use buses, which Disney does, boats, which Disney has and walkways, which Disney also has. Buses are buses.

When we went to Universal a few years back, the only thing we didn't have problems with were the busses. But its a much smaller area and the trip from Cabana Bay to the parks was very short.
