Disney Burnout????

We sleep in alot especially if we go when it is hot. We do more nonpark things now than in the beginning and since we have a car, we get out and enjoy local attractions that are not Disney.

Members since 93. No burnout here.:goodvibes. One of the nice things for us is that, believe it or not, this year was our first trip to a resort other than OKW.We stayed at SSR in March, and absolutely loved it. So, we are looking forward to trying all the DVC resorts. We will be at BLT in August.:cool1: Can't wait.

We tend to get burned out by the end of our trips, but that is usually from being tired of dealing with people. Disney sure seems to be able to keep the parks full, even during low times.

Of course, since we own DVC, we know that that we will be back and we don't do commando anymore. In fact, we often just skip stuff for the whole trip because the lines are so long.

I wouldn't say burnout, but this year for a change of pace we went to Vero Beach and may again next year. If we go to Vero next year it will be because things still haven't picked economically and it is a less expensive trip.

Our DVC traveling friends are dealing with some WDW burnout. It is difficult when you can only travel during busier times. They have a 12 year old and with sports and school they seem to only be able to go during peak summer times and they are growing tired of the crowds.

Members since 2000. We use DVC as a retirement-2nd-vacation home. With annual passes, we do not hit the parks from dawn to dusk. The parks are there if we want to use them. VB and HHI are great get aways. We make the most of the resorts.:cool1:

Our vacations changed pretty fast once we became membes. We now enjoy the resorts so much that we feel "it's okay" not to hit a park every day. Our summer trips have been so much fun. We never thought we would enjoy the summer like we do but this is our 3 in a row. It is nice to slow down and the summer trips force you to because of the heat. My 15 year old son swore there was NO way he was going again in July after we went in Jan. and Nov. 08 however....about a month or so ago....he started slowly talking about our tirp and now is looking forward to it. I think DVC members approach their vacations differently. Every resort allows you a different vacation style. At least we think that. :goodvibes We love our DVC and we are starting to want to branch out some and try the HHI and Vero resorts now. Then I suspect we will branch out even more and go to NON Disney resorts. IT is exciting to plan for all the vacations that are around the corner for us...... each year and sometimes more than once a year. :)

As you go to disney more you will evolve. You start out going crazy at the parks. Running around the parks like mad people. After a few trips you relax and start sleeping late. You just stroll though the parks at a more relaxed pace. Fine dinning becomes more the norm. Its a great ride enjoy it.

Hmmmm.....how long does that take to kick in? We have been going on a somewhat regular basis since we got married in 1988, joined DVC in 1996 and I don't recall a trip yet where we have ever slept in. There may be a day here and there where we aren't up at a ridiculously early hour trying to get everyone showered, fed and to the bus stop in order to make rope drop - but actually sleeping in? Hasn't happened yet. Granted, for us, if we make it there twice in a 12 month period (strategically planned to use annual passes for more than one trip) then we are doing good, maybe if we could be there 2 - 3 times a year instead of once a year we might slow down a little.

I have noticed that while we do still try to visit each show and attraction, if we happen to miss something we are less disappointed about it than we used to be. The only time we really kick ourselves is when we find out later that the attraction is being replaced. We kept missing the Lion King show at Magic Kingdom one trip, wrote it off and decided there was always next time - now we are enjoying Mickey's Philharmagic instead :confused3

We joined in 1993 when our DDs were 11 and 8. We joined not necessarily for the parks but because the property had something for everyone to enjoy - good pools, golf, dining, shopping, and the parks. We've enjoyed lots and lots of fun times w/ DVC including taking family and friends. We have used the points for different destinations - cruise, Disneyland, concierge collection, VB, and HHI. But now my husband has to be dragged kicking and screaming to use the points, and our girls go because they're doing it for mom. So, yes, burnout happens. Our first grandchild is 8 months old, and I'm hoping some enthusiasm will reappear when we take him for the first time.

I never thought I'd experience burnout until this year. I went to WDW 3 times this year in January, March & May! We usually go once a year. And by the end of the May trip, I was ready to leave and go home (but not until after riding Toy Story four times in one morning!).

So after all those trips, my "burnout" mainly means I'm not too broken up about not going for the rest 2009.

But, the fingers are already twitching to call MS in July to book 11 months out for June 2010! :cool1: :thumbsup2
