Disney Bounding - Did I miss this, or is this somewhat new?

So while reading a Disney blog the other day, I ran across the term 'Disney Bounding'. I hadn't previously heard this term, so I googled it. Has this phenomenon of dressing in character with a hip modern look been around for awhile, or somewhat new?

When we went to MK last Halloween for the MNSSHP, the DW and I didn't dress up, but now wish we had. Now I know of this Disneybounding, this seems more appealing than just a simple costume. I like the modern twist. I'm heavily debating creating a Robin Hood (Disney obviously) outfit, to 'Disney Bound' for the next MNSSHP. Anyone else participate in Disney Bounding, or no someone who has?

If I do Robin Hood (all time favorite 'classic' Disney movie) I assure you, I'll be wearing pants..haha! I remembered Robin wears a LONG tunic with no pants.

It's been around for a while. Some outfits are pretty obvious - Minnie and Snow White are really easy to spot - but others are less obvious because it might be just the colors or some accessories. Once we became aware of it, we started to notice adults (mainly women) Disney Bounding in the parks during the day. Here's a thread with photos:

Was this a way to get around the not wearing costumes in the park rule? It's pretty smart! And yeah, I think it's pretty fun, not something I would do randomly, but as someone who isn't huge on the idea of dressing up for Halloween, this is a nice happy medium.

I notice this all the time at DL. Last weekend I probably saw a dozen people dressed up, there were 2 couples (a mad Hatter with Alice and a Beast with Belle) that had absolutely amazing costumes that you could tell they put a lot of thought and effort into.

I also saw dozens of social club members walking around, mostly Neverlanders and Sons of Anakin. They were everywhere and looked to be having a blast.

For whatever reason, and maybe this is unfair, but I see this Bounding being a bigger thing out in CA. Maybe because they are into fashion out there. But yeah I could believe this is a big thing out west!

DW and I have been doing this for years without knowing that it had a name.
We dress in safari colors when we go to AK.
We dress in red. yellow, black, and white to go to MK.
We dress in "sparkly" clothes when we go to MGM (aka DHS).

There are a lot of cute ideas on the Disney Bound tumblr. It probably is more popular in Anaheim because there are so many AP holders and it's easier to pop in for an evening. Their weather is a little more accommodating to fashion too.

And how do y'all dress for Epcot? :)

Such a great point! My major concern while hitting the WDW parks is comfort. The appeal of bounding for a MNSSHP is, at least it's night, so I won't be sweating a ton.

Look at the disneybound tumblr.
The person who runs that site has amazing taste. There are a few sets for guys too.

My department's floor decided to Disney Bound for Halloween last year as an alternative to the usual costumes. Very fun.

I dressed like Silvermist while I was there for the Flower and Garden Show. I put a few strands of blue in my black hair, wore a pleated blue skort which looked like flower petals, and a one shoulder blue top. I even had a white backpack with blue wings on it. It was soooo much fun!

See that's awesome, and thinking outside the box!
