I've been reading in Guide Books about boat hire at Disney Marina.

Has anyone done this?

I was thinking it would be fun to do this one 'non-park' morning.

From what I understand there are Canopy Boats and Water Sprites. As ther will be 8 of us I guess a Canopy Boat would be be the best bet.

Questions:

Can I hire boats if I am not staying 'on site'?

If I can hire a boat, how far can I go (I am assuming this is on the seven seas lagoon?)

Can I just turn up and hire a boat or do I have to pre-book.

Thanks

Maxine

Maxine, the Water Mice and Pontoons are rentable by the hour from the dock at The Poly, Wilderness Lodge and Campgrounds(probably Floridian and Contemp too but haven't been there).

No, yer don't have to be an on-site guest.

Don't know if yer can book, we ust turn up and stand in line - only watin while the guys in front fill in the paperwork.

From memory, I think the water mice are around $25 an hour and can take two 'crew' The Pontoons take 8 or 12 and don't cost much, if any, more

Yer can sail all round the 7 Seas Lagoon and into the lake in front of Wilderness Lodge too ,via the canal beside the Contemporary.

Thought we'd pracically done everything , now remember we need to fit this in for the kids tomorrer- they love the Water Mice.

You can also hire boats (pontoon, Water mice and small "day" boats) by the hour from Downtown. You pay on return so if you fancy staying out a bit longer you can. Its quite a nice area to transverse as you can go up to Old Key West and past the Wilderness lodge cabins. I think a Pontoon was about $40 an hour, which is enough to get to Port Orleans and back.

Its advisable to take some cool drinks with you as it can be hot on the water.

Have fun.

Maxine, the kids did have fun - they said our weight would slow them down if we went out with them, so me and V sat and watched from a lakeside bar at The Poly (just to be sociable).

The water mice are available by the half hour for around $20 but an hour was just $31 with tax. The Pontoons were an hour only and cost $32 plus tax. (If yer stayin at the resort, yer can get a length of stay pass for $199 that covers all water craft and bikes)

This is definately on my 'must do' list now.

Although I like the sound of sipping drinks from the lakeside bar at the Poly - the height of refinement!:)
