I'm just curious but sweet 16 is coming up. I was thinking about getting a birthday button. What are some of the perks for getting a button?

Not a whole lot. Cast members will wish you a happy birthday when they see you. I have also heard that you can get a pack of tortillas (instead of the typical 1) for free at the Mission factory in DCA, but don't know if that's still current. I've also read on these boards that some of the sit-down restaurants have given a free special birthday dessert, but again I don't know if that's across the board or if it was just a CM being extra magical that particular day.

No worries! They won't card you if you go to City Hall for your button As long as you're at Disneyland celebrating a birthday trip, no worries about getting a button if it's not your actual birthday

What other perks are there? Unfortunately none that I know of that I haven't already mentioned. Maybe someone else can chime in.

There isn't much else. It is just a day to wear your birthday button proudly and have every cast member who notices wish you a happy birthday. That is about it!

When you pick up your button, you may get a phone call from Goofy telling you happy birthday. This was a really big deal when my DD turned 3.

It's not really about "what you get" so much as just the fun of having it and being wished Happy Birthday throughout your day. Some pixie dust may fall your way, but if so, it's because someone decided to do something special - not because it's a pre-set "benefit" of wearing a birthday button.

I am probably going to use mine from last year. That happened to me last year.

Okay, this is where I got confused. Sounds like you already know about the birthday button and what "perks" come with it. If you decide to get a new one or wear your previously received one, enjoy.

Will they offer a birthday button if it's not your exact birthday? DD's 3rd b-day is 18 days before we arrive, can we still go to City Hall and ask for a button for her to wear? We're not going to DL just because it's her b-day but it might be a special little treat for her to get noticed, or maybe a bit confusing to her so I might have to reconsider. Just questioning if they would even give you a button if it wasn't on your actual birthday. Thanks.

I went to Disneyland to celebrate my 19th birthday a few years ago. The actual "birthday trip" occurred 8 months after my birthday but I still got a Birthday Button. Because it wasn't even close to my actual birthday, but we were there celebrating by birthday, I explained the situation and they declared it my Unbirthday, turned the button upside down, put my name on it, and I wore it upside down the entire trip. It was so much fun! CM's (and even quite a few other guests) would wish me a Happy Birthday and some would stare, then wish me a Happy Unbirthday. Either way, the only perk for wearing the button is the extra attention

DL understands that you won't necessarily be in the parks on your "special" day, so there is absolutely no problem with wearing Birthday, Anniversary, Graduation, Special Accomplishment pins while you are visiting the parks.

We usually go to Disneyland in October. Our wedding anniversay is in October, but usally a week or so before we visit. I always wear my Anniversary button and enjoy the CM's wishing me a Happy Anniversay.

We are going to WDW in October this year and celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Their actual anniversary is in June, but you can be assured that I am going to make them we their pins.

I just returned and noticed something this time around. We had a first timer with us, City Hall was totally out of 1st Visit pins. Not sure about the ticket booths but I was under the impression that City Hall and maybe guest relations inside California Adventure were the only two places to get pins.

However, while at the World of Disney store I noticed that at the entrance closest to the security check point, there was a plastic bin full of various guest pins! It's a castmember station so it's not like a help yourself kind of thing. I asked the greeter at the door if I could have a 1st Visit pin and they said sure. No they don't card for B-days and won't ask any questions if it's not your B-day, or if the pin isn't even for you.

So if you want to save a little time because sometimes there's a long line at City Hall try the WOD store first. If you ride the tram you'll be dropped off in front of World of Disney, go the entrance on the left hand side and the station will be in a small corner to the right as you enter, hopefully this is something that's always there because I dread the line at City Hall!
