I just found out that Norweign has purchased the ships which American Cruise Line had under construction when they went bankrupt.

What is so special about these ship. Well I am glad you asked. These ships are being built in the US. This is one of the requirements for a ship to sail under a US Flag.

What is so great about a US Flag. Well in order to sail exclusively to US ports (no required stops in foreign countries), you must be a US ship.

Big Deal - why do you want to stay in the US. Well I want to sail Hawaii, but I don't want to have to sail from Mexico or Tahiti to get there. The new Pride of America will have 7 day cruises that land only in the Hawaiian Islands. This way you get a taste of Oahu, Kauia, Hawaii and Maui. Sailings to begin July 2004.

I would consider a trip from Mexico to Hawaii on Disney.

Robin,

We were going to do Hawaii next year, but when we heard about NCL decided to put it off until 2005. In addition to the 7 day one you mentioned they are also doing a 4 day with a 3 day land package in Oahu. I think that is the one we are going to look at.

I too have considered a Hawaii cruise, but thought that the 7 day that spend 4 of them travelling to and from Fanning Island was not worth it. Now with the Pride Of America, it looks like a great way to cruise Hawaii. That might be my first non-Disney Cruise.

Mary,

It is rather scary that you guys seem to have the same ideas we have. I just talked with Mike. He wants to still do the DCL Xmas cruise and then do the Norweign Cruise in 2005. (He wants to make sure all the bugs are worked out first) The Land and Sea option sound interesting.

Robin, That was exactly our thoughts - let them have a few months under their belt. That's why we went with the Christmas cruise! Who knows - maybe we'll get to crusie together twice :)

We booked for next July for 7 nights on Pride of America for $4050, but later found 11 nights on Norwegian Wind for $3173 for the same dates! We quickly change our ressie to the 11 night cruise which does the same Hawaiiaan islands plus 4 at sea days to and from Fanning Island. I wonder if the demand for Pride of America has driven the price up? Or the fact it is a brand new ship.
Either way cruising Hawaii must be a great holiday and a nice change from the Caribbean. Not that thats so bad. LOL.

In 2005, my DH and I will be married 25 years! I would love to sail to Hawaii to celebrate. I will have to check into this!!!
