Disney at Home store at DTD closes

The Home store at DTD closed on Jan. 2. It is turning into the new Goofy Candy Kitchen. No date has been announced for the opening of the store. When the new store opens something else will go into the former Goofy location.

The World of Disney will now carry the items that were previously found at Disney At Home. No word on what will be going into the current Candy Kitchen Location.

They definitely didnt have a going out of business sale! Everything was still regular price on NYE.

You can say that again. The only 2 cheap things I saw were the Mickey toothbrush cup and soap holder for $5 each.

Another recommendation for the poster looking for similar items elsewhere -

Check out the shops in the Contemporary Resort - one of the stores seemed to have a decent amount of Disney Kitchen accessories.

We always enjoyed going into the Home Store, but am afraid I was never able to buy much there, either. Sounds like they may downsize some & maybe just offer some of the more popular items for sale.

As far as anyone has heard, The Home Store is closing permanently and the items will be moved to a section in World of Disney. No word on what will be moving into the area vacated by Goofy's Candy Kitchen. Maybe Earl of Sandwich will be using it for more seating?

We were just at WDW a few weeks ago, & I was seeing Disney at Home merchandise all over the place, resorts & theme parks. And it was the same stuff you get at the "Disney at Home" store. So I think that rather than have a dedicated store for the merchandise, they are now just selling it all over WDW. So no worries!

This is sad, we also decorated a bathroom with stuff from here. We actually went there at Christmas to replace something that broke. They were out of it and I noticed that the shelves were not full. Now we know why.

I think that was the problem with the store. Great stuff to look at, but priced a little bit too high to actually buy (for what it was).

Totally agree, I loved to look but just thought it was to expensive.

Where is/was the Goofy Candy Store? I know of The Candy Cauldron but not that one.

Goofy's Candy Kitchen is located in the back of the Earl of Sandwich and across from Wolfgang Puck Express. The Candy Cauldron is located at the West Side.

I think it's great news..if they move the stuff over to WOD. A lot of items I used to be able to use my AP discount for at WOD had moved over the years to the Home Store and the Toy store, so I know buy less.
We'll be down shortly and hope to find a lot of the stuff back in the WOD.

Some of the items from the home store have been discontinued and sent
off to the Character Premier shops. I know this from looking for an item
that I should have purchased the first day I started my vacation. I thought that I would just get it on my official shopping day of vacation but, I didn't know that the home store was closing. I was very sad when I went to buy my stuff and the store was no longer there. I was redirected to the WOD store and they didn't have what I was looking for, I asked a CM about it and she informed me that my item along with many others had been discontinued and that I should try the outlets across the street. Well I was very shocked since I had just seen these things on Friday and Saturday. I questioned a couple of other CM's and got the same response. One lady actually called around some of the resorts for me to see if anyone still had some left. I am very disappointed about the Home Store it was my favorite store.

Wow, I'm sad to see this store go, but hopefully they will have a good selection in the other locations. And for the AP holders it would be good to have them available at WOD.

As far as prices, they were high on a lot of things, I agree, but I could often find a good deal on items, like candles on sale or candle plates, for less than $5.

I also used to get some towels on every trip (the ones with the Mickey head outlines) as they were not too unreasonably priced. I would bring back a small set of hand towels and some Mickey soap for our house sitter, etc.. and think they weren't that pricey. Hope they will still be carrying these!
