The Home store at DTD closed on Jan. 2. It is turning into the new Goofy Candy Kitchen. No date has been announced for the opening of the store. When the new store opens something else will go into the former Goofy location.

Hate to hear that I loved to browse that store..such neat things to see in there. I guess maybe that was the problem too many browsers not enough sales....:(

The Home store was one of our favorites. We always found something small in there to bring home. Thanks for the info on it. We were planning to go there next week. :D

Oh man!!! I was looking through my DTD map the other day and was really looking forward to going there! GRR!

Bummer, that was my favorite store... Granted, I also did more browsing than buying, but I did spend my share... one of my bathrooms is decorated with stuff from that store...

Well that stinks! Just when I am redoing my kitchen with a Mickey theme.

Does anyone know if they will be selling that type of stuff at another store? The world of Disney maybe?

How sad, we always spent a ton of money in that store. Guess we were the only ones. :(

I heard this too and it saddens me so much! I thought it was the cutest place to get Disney stuff, and I'll be so sad to not see it anymore.....

NO ! I'm a guy and that's one of my favorites. I always sneak over there to buy my wife things. well, not anymore.

I think that was the problem with the store. Great stuff to look at, but priced a little bit too high to actually buy (for what it was).

Yes I will miss it too! I was in over the holidays and was told they were closing to make way for Goofy. WOD has a large home section, so I guess that is one of the reasons.

They definitely didnt have a going out of business sale! Everything was still regular price on NYE.

Outside of a theme park, I think World of Disney would have a nice selection of things.

BUT, MouseGear at Epcot always had a huge kitchen section. Lots of nifty gadgets for the kitchen, and aprons and things. I don't know about the bath stuff and linens though...

I'm gonna miss that store too. :(

From the November 29 posting on MousePlanet.com:

"…Reportedly, the Disney at Home store at Downtown Disney Marketplace is closing on January 3 for “refurbishment,” returning much smaller than its current size. Moving into the rest of the space is a new, expanded Goofy's Candy Company, including an “interactive show kitchen.” The candy shop's current location closes about a week before the new location opens, with its old location scheduled for a refurbishment to make room for another, unnamed store."

...so, perhaps the home store isn't gone completely--just being downsized.

FWIW, we also found quite a bit of home merchandise in one of the shops on Hollywood Blvd at MGM.

I would have bought more at that store if they had of offered the passholder discount that the WOD store offers. I would always look at the Home store and buy what I could at WOD, even if it meant passing on an item that wasn't available at WOD (unless it was something I REALLY wanted).

I agree with that. disney wastes a lot of space with the same items cross-merchandised. but if we find something, we go to WOD to see if they have it for the discount.

Nope, I also dumped a ton of money in there at least 2x a year!
I guess it's easier to sell candy to screaming kids than towels to quiet adults.

Where is/was the Goofy Candy Store? I know of The Candy Cauldron but not that one.
