It has been several years since my family has been to Disney. We go to universal at least once a year. But now that we have 3 grandchildren ( ages 3,2 and 1) we were planning to travel to universal for Christmas lights and thought about a day or 2 at Disney. Question is when does Disney start the Christmas lights and shows and is there a week that might be less crowded than others?

Early December will have decorations in all parks but somewhat lower crowds than the weeks closer to Christmas. It’s finding the sweet spot at least a week after Thanksgiving but before the crowds pick up for the holidays.

I've seen Christmas stuff at WDW as early as Veterans Day. They tend to film the ABC Disney Christmas special shows around that time.

At MK, the Christmas stuff isn't done in the park until after the last Christmas party, which usually is around Dec 20 (with the exception of the castle "lighting" show, which is done daily)
