Hi everyone,

I work for the school system in southern Florida and have recently seen an opening at my "dream" school in central florida. I sent in a resume, and have been contacted and told they are "very interested". I'm thrilled. Just wondering if anyone on the boards knows anything about the school district, specifically in the celebration area.

TIA!

That would be the Osceola county school system. Hit and miss as some schools are bad and some are even worse.
Orange county is the same way although generally regarded as better than Osceola.

Yes it is a school in Osceola county...I don't really want to say the name but it is in the Celebration area. That's your hint. Anyone else have info on schools around there? I'm just trying to get a feel for how things work. The county itself is a lot bigger than the county I currently work for which would take some getting used to I think.

The only schools in the "Celebration area" (other than private schools) are Celebration School (K-8) and Celebration HS (9-12). DGD went to Celebration HS; her mother moved them down here to be near us and to specifically attend there, but it's not the cream of the crop, even in the county. Went from a D school to (I think) a C+ and maybe is higher now. I know they offer the IB now (AFTER DGD graduated, which ticked off DD!), so I suspect they're better now. DGD was in 3 AP classes (they offer quite a few), NHS, and was accepted to the biology/pre-med program at Florida Southern College, a small private school. Don't know whether that says more about CHS or DGD!

After reading your post, I googled the school "grade" and the k-8 school is now an A school and has been for the past 4 years.

Yes, the K-8 school has an excellent reputation; for some unknown reason, I thought you were talking about working at a high school. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
